I think there will be a lot of the love spread around, to many developers put a bunch of money into researching the PS3 thinking it would do well again but they won't ignore the Wii either.

Probably what will happen is that FF will stay on the PS3 and get respectable sales there, while all smaller RPGs will go to the Wii (that won't have the competition of a main FF game). FF will continue to sell decently on the PS3, though maybe no up to it's predecessor, while an almost broke developer in Japan makes one last game that's an RPG for the Wii, it becomes a massive hit, and by next generation, FF is all but a distant memory.
Or SE might just make a new IP RPG for the Wii, which would probably be a hit, not "ruin" the FF series, and still tap the market. Win win for everyone.
yes, they choose for technology , the PSX and it's discs, long before the PSX was popular and succeeded in Japan or anywhere else, cause development took long, and the Nintendo limited them, well it will limit them again if the go to the Wii...... and I'm only talking about the main series of FF

Dude, the PS1 was released in 1994 in Japan. It was already quite popular by the time FF7 began development.

What does the ps3 have that is equivalent to that? Blu-ray? It also wouldn't be the same. Back then 3rd parties hated nintendo for limiting the amount of games they could make to limit shovelware. Now people are complaining that there is too much shovleware on the wii , because nintendo doesn't do this.
PS3 will be the king of jrpgs then the 360 if where talking about Quality over quantity if not then THREAD=FAIL and no FF14 is not coming to the wii why? because square already has a division dedicated to the wii that cranks out games like dragon quest and FFCC.The PS3 is the leading platform in terms of what you can do with graphics, gameplay and story the main reason SE choose Blu-Ray and the PS3 as the main platform for FF13 and future FF games as they become more adept and proficient with the technology.

So they are going to ignore the fact that the ps3 is selling like crap in japan.
| Ajax said: when Square decided to make FF7 for the PSX they took a gamble ´cause Nintendo was the established leader of the industry, but still they choose for technology and the PlayStation, and switched production to the PSX while the SNES was the clear king of the industry and many had their money on the next Nintendo console or if not, on SEGA's console ..... but still they made it for the unproven PlayStation, because of it's hardware.. |
no the PSX broke through just before the launch of FF7, the Saturn was more popular just before FF7 came, and development was in progress way before that....... anyway, sc94 you say what does the PS3 have now? well, it's got a lot more power, and I just wonder if developers at Square want to take the main FF series visually back in time..

That doesn't make sense, Sega Saturn was much more powerful than PSX. The reason Square released FF7 on PSX was because of pressure from Sony, which owned around 20% of Square at that time. |
Are you sure? I thought sony bought these stocks after FF was brought to their systems.
