They know exactly what they're doing featuring Silksong front and centre on the Xbox Ally page lmao

I will say, the system itself looks kinda cool, if nothing else I do like Xbox's design language these days

That said, with the Xbox Series S now costing more than a PS5 Digital and the 2TB Series X more than a PS5 Pro, I don't even wanna think about how much these puppies will set you back.

The CURRENT ROG Ally itself is already like $650.

I was in Best Buy picking up my copy of CP2077 for Switch 2. When the guy was ringing me up, I looked behind him and the ROG Ally X was $900. I'd be stunned if the Xbox version is below that price.

Best Buy ROG Ally X Listing

Yeah I can see the stronger model being around that price, with the weaker one falling similar to the base ROG Ally.

Definitely a product geared for enthusiasts which will move a very small amount of hardware, but that's PC handhelds in a nutshell really.

I doubt we'll ever get sales numbers on this as we don't even get Xbox console numbers any more, but I wouldn't be surprised if Switch 2 sells more in its first week than this will lifetime.

Not that this means it shouldn't exist, but I can see why they piggybacked on an existing PC handheld as its audience is quite narrow; those who want to play on the go, don't want a Switch 2, and prefer Xbox over Steam. Very specific and probably tiny audience.

Why are you being so defensive and keep bring Switch into things. before youy i didnt see one person mention switch 2.

Also im going to let you in on a little thing now thats really going to annoy you. PC Handheld gaming might of only hit 6 millions in 3 years you said.

As bigger company's like MS and Sony enter the field im willing to bet this market is just going to keep getting bigger and bigger...

Why does a similar device being mentioned to place a product's market appeal in context bother you?

There's nothing wrong with niche products. If you expect Xbox Ally to make PC handhelds mainstream, you're likely going to be disappointed.

I dont expect anything from this device. But your ignoring everything everyone is saying to you and going on some defensive path.

Like what was said this is about the OS wars now. Console wars mean nothing to MS and yes this wont do much but its MS gate way to allow more devices or maybe even steamdeck users to install this version of windows.

And it also doesnt matter if its selling against Normal Rog ally or any other handheld PC if them devices are also running windows MS wins in that case. ITs about stopping valve from getting a foothold into the OS market like what happend with IOS and Android with phones.

This is a growing market and thats the point your missing its only going to get bigger.

The entire PC handheld market is at a mere 6 million devices in the last three years.

There's no indication it's going to become mainstream in the foreseeable future.

And this is why it seems to me your trolling this topic or something.

Its not only about the PC Handheld market, but if you believe its not going to grow beyond 6 million thats your choice.

But its about making sure that this OS can work on other devices such as other consoles. Maybe console like PC builds that people want to make, heck maybe even TVs. Its about making sure SteamOS as a slim line OS build for gaming doesnt replace windows when it comes to them and many more device..

Xbox Ally isn't going to make any significant difference in the OS war though.

THis is the point you keep missing. Its not about the Ally but for some reason some Nintendo fans are now all going haywire on this site since ms teamed up to make a handheld. BUt like you said this handheld is not going to have much of an impact and is also not going to effect Nintendo in anyway.

Pointing out that a product is niche is hardly "going haywire". It's cool that the Xbox Ally exists. More options is good for the player. There's nothing bad about being niche.

If Microsoft doesn't care enough to produce their own hardware, why should I care enough to buy it?
