Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Metroid Prime 4 Treehouse gameplay

Well, you know, they're the experts, not me. Turns out they also prefer games you can see clearly though, even if it uses some older and more basic looking assets. I never tried to claim that the graphical scope was on the same level as big budget third-party titles, but somehow the whole discussion became centred around that.

Around the Network

I still feel Prime 4 is a great looking game for its hardware, as Prime 3 was.

Granted, as a Switch 1 game at heart, it's not pushing Switch 2 in terms of lighting, effects, geometry and the like, but running at 4K/60fps or 1080p/120fps, it's still a showcase for the system's maximum pixel/framerate output while looking attractive.

Development for Metroid Prime 4 started a while back. Probably way before it was clear what the Switch2 tech was gonna be capable of. After Nintendo figured that out, I think nobody could expect Retro to go "Ok let's scrap half our work and make new assets for everything".

From the footage I think Prime4 looks fantastic. It's all in the art direction and to my eyes they've nailed it.
