I like wild animal names: the Jaguar! the Lynx! but not so much the wonder swan…

No love for the Mega Duck/Cougar Boy?

N-Gage!

Also Super Nintendo. Everything was Super back then! Super Mario (ok, he was there before, but still), Super Castlevania, Super Metroid. Super times! =P

I also like Switch. It's spot on and it is finally a change for good after Nintendo struggled with naming their consoles for so long.

Dreamcast has a nice ring to it. Xbox sounds very edgy and 90s, even though the device launched in 2002 or something. That said, todays names of Xbox are just utterly stupid and confusing. I can't tell you how many times someone over at reddit confuses the Xbox Series X with the Xbox One X.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Master System
Mega Drive
Saturn
Dreamcast
(S)NES
N64
GCN
XBOX
Game Boy
3DS

Master system, Playstation and Xbox are good 4/5 basic names, but not quite the top.
Jaguar was one of the best, maybe Odyssey. Saturn and Dreamcast are good and interesting, though I'd rather some other planet: Mercury, Jupiter, Neptune would've been more catchy.
ColecoVision gets bonus points just for the name coming from "Connecticut Leather Company".

What are we defining as cool? Like, the names that were actually considered cool in their time? Or that we think were just good names now? I think Genesis was cool in its time. Switch is cool now. Playstation was a very "cool" system, but I don't know about that name. The more you detach yourself from the brand to objectively think about it, the more lame Playstation sounds lol. Seems like we all just got use to it. The Xbox name was never cool. It seemed corny at the time (back then, if you wanted to be hip, you put an X before or after a word; it was a very dude-bro thing) and, similar to Playstation, I think we all just got use to it. Same with Gameboy.

I think I'll go with Genesis as the coolest sounding console. Jaguar and Turbo-Graphics 16 was pretty cool sounding, as well.

Fun Fact: The Neptune almost really happened but was canned for some reason!

Saturn, Dreamcast, GameCube and TurboGrafx!

The best name imo is xbox 360. It's slick and sounds cool. Playstation is very practical and tells you exactly what you are going to do with the console. NES is genius and perfect for the public to grasp, considering the video game crash prior. The Switch is also a genius name and Nintendo was smart to keep the next console as Switch 2, even if it's not that creative.

Intellivision
Astrocade
Playstation

Not some reason. Saturn was coming out. 32X was a bad idea and was meant to bridge the gap between Genesis and Saturn. Neptune was just a 32X/Genesis all in one. However, fans are bringing Neptune back as an FPGA console.
