Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are core gamers buying wiis even 360 and ps3 have price cut

Do u mean the core gamers are betting on buying a console that think will win even theres no games for that system yet? And thats the reason even with shovelwares core gamers still buys it? Sorry but 2 million sales of softwares was insane. Even Super Smash Bros. cant match that...

Sorry but this is just nonsense (I don't mean I can't understand it I mean it is silly)

I have 10 games for my Wii and the only reason I have no more is because I don't have the money.... There are at least 10 games released now that I don't have but I would really like to buy, so that's 20 games already, and there are a number of other games I would normally be inclined to try even if I don't think they are must have purchases.

The only things missing from the Wii library are a good realistic racer or two, but unfortunately Sony has a capitalisation on that with GT and the fact they own the Formula 1 licence.
Also FPS are a litle scarce and while I wouldn't want them to be stupidly abundant like the 360 it would be nice to have a bit more choice of decent ones.

Ok, one more thread which seems to have no point.

First, there are a shitload of games (in comparision to competition) for the Wii, with variety that caters different tastes. One of the reasons why "casuals" traditionally doesn't buy as much games as the "hardcore", is because there isn't that much games for them, while all the games (with a few exceptions) are going towards more casual direction in order to expand the audience, but the games itself are just "casualized hardcore", while games like Wii Sports and Wii Play are made first for the "casuals". So, looking at Wii Play, RRR, RRR2, Mario Party 8, M&S, Monkey Ball, Boogie, Guitar Hero, Endless Ocean, Carnival Games, and bridged games like SMG, MKWii, Brawl, and what others there may be (i actually mentioned just a few), there's actually is a lot games that the "casuals" may be interested about. And then there's the hardcore, to who the bridged games are targeted at, as well as the "hardcore" titles, like RE4, REUC, NMH, MP3, Z&W, FE, and others like that. While the "casual gamer" has always been the core of the industry, they rarely get treated as such. You see, todays casual is tomorrows hardcore.

Nintendo games sell only on Nintendo system.

OK you all exactly have a point, but thats not what Im informed about, the Wii are for casuals even New York Times have a article about it. Even the core gaming sites says it even EGM magazines says it even analysts so why all these people say the same thing?

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

Because they are the media, articles in unbiased newspapers about gaming are often uniformed and pulled from what are biased websites, a lot of gamers who percieve themselves as hardcore because they have 20 FPS games and every rendition of Madden or FIFA are severley biased against the Wii because it's main focus isn't the FPS/Sports crowd.

Then there is also the price. The wii has a lot more budget games released at $29-$39, and full price is only $49 compared to $59 for 360/PS3. By spending $120, you can find 3 games you like instead of only 2.

Read my post above. A. What does NYT know about gaming anyway? Besides the article sounded like something M$ would say after releasing its quarterly report. B. In case you haven't noticed, tho whole industry, besides Nintendo, is totally lost with Wii. They don't even seem to know what it actually is. Look at the sales of the disruptive software on DS, what do you see? Million sellers. So, the "casual" buy games, when there's games for them. C. Everytime there has been a change in the industry, it's always headed towards the casual/non-gaming market. The "hardcore" today are the casuals/non-gamers that were brought to gaming during the PSX era. Cinematics in a game? Oh boy, that's like interactive movie! Cool, i want that game! While the "hardcore" of that time (i'm in that demographic) weren't so happy with the direction. Just look at PS2:s best selling games, bridged games like GT and GTA, Singstar still in the best sellers lists, Guitar Hero sells million on every platform etc...

I don't know why they say the things they do, but a year ago it was clear on this site that at least a significant amount of hard core games were going with the wii as console of choice, or wii + one of the other consoles giving the wii 50+% market share and the other two fighting over the other <50%.

The misconception is that all Wii games are shovelwares.
Keep in mind among the megatons of shovelwares, there are many many great titles.

THIS IS... what I want to know about. There are many forums saying that the first year of PSX and PS2 wasnt good either and they say when casual gamers are corncerned the PSX and the PS2 start casual gaming. Sorry even at my age I dunno the gaming history I only knew it from the net. BTW, we have PSX before and we still have a PS2 but we didnt buy it in its first year of launch unlike our Wii. We buy it this year we buy the PSX and the PS2 3 years after its launch care anyone tell me about it, please?

it's a perfect description of people who i usually talk to on polish sites. it's always:

wii have only party games/wii don't have hd and only hd can make it a true next gen/wii have only games for kids and more from this kind of crap.

the best part is when i read on polish game site that wii has only small party games, because of thier gameplay time and i mention few games like zack & wiki, galaxy, metroid, fire emblem and many others with pretty long 10+ hours gameplay. i asked him if he can mention 10 ps3 console exclusive games with longer gameplay than 10h he started pointing out gran turismo 5 prologue and tekken 6 :P(did i mentioned i love polish ps3 fanboys?)
