Forums - Sales Discussion - SW1 '25 vs. DS '11/3DS '17/Wii '12 Comparison Thread!

How will Switch compare with its three predecessors?

More than all three 12 46.15%

Less than DS, more than 3DS and Wii 12 46.15%

Less than DS and 3DS, more than Wii 1 3.85%

Less than all three 1 3.85%

Total:26

I’m still in the process of putting in the Wii’s data.
I put the DS in late last might and I just put in the 3DS’ data.
I’ll have the Wii’s up by tonight while I’m going back and forth between that and the AFC Championship game.

It will outselll Wii's 2012 for sure, 3DS, hmm maybe, i don't know but the DS is a bit too high but i could be wrong. 4- 6 million at least.

Week 4 Japan numbers are out per Famitsu.

And Switch 1 is tracking ahead of all three systems for this week.

Looks good but remember, its the beginning of the year and the holiday effect is still in action. But its a good start. For now i keep my prediction or ~4-6 million with an almost guaranteed chance of it beating Wii's 2012. The 3DS gets in the range of "possible" and for the DS we have to see...

And once again, Switch 1 is tracking ahead of all three systems for this week and holding well despite the Switch 2 announcement.

They'll probably (or hopefully) sell around 6m Switch 1's in 2025, so I would say more than the Wii in 2012, but less than the DS in 2011 and 3DS in 2017.

Yes. 4- 6 million Switchs for 2025 seems about right. If it looses to DS in 2011 it won't matter too much because it gets passed in summer anyway.

@PAOerfulone

Thats true but thats only Japan. It needs to do good worldwide.😀 But i somehow feel that this 40 million prediction of (T-Bone was his name?!) does not feel so bad anymore. I go with 38- 40 million LTD.

Week 6 Japan numbers are out per Famitsu.

Switch 1 is tracking ahead of all three systems for this week again. Expect that to continue for the foreseeable future.

The US numbers for the month of January have just been posted and they are now added to this comparison in addition to the Week 7 Japan numbers.

While the Switch continues its winning streak in Japan over its 3 predecessors, in the US it is a very different story. It is currently tracking ahead YoY and WoW ahead of the 3DS, but it is noticeably lagging behind the DS and Wii in the US.
