Today i focused on strength more. I'm thinking about ditching my 5 reps EMOM on the kb swings and going heavier. So today i did singles with my KB, 1 swing EMOM.

I did squats as well on a similar protocol. I also got 30 minutes of bicycling in and 30 minutes in at the gym. It's good to switch things up, but i definitely want to specialize in bicycling and swings for now. We'll see if I can add squats to that for a triple game.

December 28, Ontario, Canada, +12c ....

I went for a 24 km run today in nothing but shorts and a tank top in the middle of Canadian winter. I took my shirt off after warming up, didn't need it, started to sweat.

This was winter of '09 behind our house, -20c.

The river hasn't frozen up at our place for almost a decade now, less and less ice. Snow doesn't stay long anymore if it falls at all.

Global warming is a hoax :p

Downside is, it's always overcast now. The sun barely shows itself in winter anymore. Depressing grey for months :/

Question about Canada, does it have as many obese people as America?

Well my in laws certainly stack the deck :)

Asking google AI:

According to the 2022 Canadian Community Health Survey, 30% of Canadians aged 18 and older were obese, which is an increase from 21% in 2003.

The obesity rate in the United States is high, with 40.3% of adults in the country affected from August 2021 to August 2023

So we're catching up, but not there yet.

Locally we're going further the other way, skinny immigrants flocking to the new housing developments. Which is great, love the increased diversity, so many more food choices now :)
Our town used to be painfully white, so much so tourists would always stand out. Yet obesity rate has always been low locally as well.

Not where I live. In fact I've been seeing an increase in outdoor activity locally. During and since the pandemic people have become more active outdoors. More cyclist and runners around. (Although the biggest rise is in E-Bikes)

Also a reason I enjoy running more now, cycle routes are much more populated nowadays.

I guess it would be down now with Ozempic around. Those 2022 numbers are outdated and Ozempic is pushed hard everywhere.

I'm not in horrible shape as a whole but my beer belly (well really wine/vodka/gin belly) is getting a bit much, to the point where it's actually hurting my back. Plan on eating greek salads or berries and cheese for dinner 5 days a week and working out 4 days a week in 2025 to get that under control and cut way back on drinking haha.

I've been doing this crappy exercise bike with moving arms for 40 mins or so 4 days a week. Then 10-15 minutes of strength training of some kind (either lifting/pushups or squats/pushups/situps usually) Or on rare times I'll go to the gym and do the treadmill and/or stair stepper for 35 mins then lift for 15 mins.

You're doing it!

Yesterday I went crazy and did 70km on my bike, but want to get some kb swings and weights in today as well as some cardio. We shall see.

22 km run today, just above freezing now after warmer weather with tons of rain. The rivers are high, I had to bypass / detour some of my route as the tributary crossings were flooded. Some small hail today, at least no more rain.

I noticed a lot of people out walking today. New years resolutions? Or walking off a hangover lol.
