Lumines Arise

An absolute visual and auditory treat and big step up from Takashi Ishihara previous work on Tetris Effect.

Must play on any OLED screen, and fully PSVR2 compatible where it shines. (The 3D effects are awesome, like the fish and parrots here)

Best zen game play experience since Tetris Effect.

I've never played any Lumines game before, this game has all the tutorials, challenges and options to learn to play. I'm hooked. I'm playing it with no fall mode as a puzzler. (You still have to watch the line and burst mode has a timer of course, learning to make combos)

Headphones recommended. (Or big sound sound system)

This game is INCREDIBLE! It's hard to even describe it as a game tbh lol. I've only dabbled in VR once with Half-Life: Alyx, but I'm legit wanting to pick up probably the Steam Frame early next year to experience Arise and Tetris Effect Connected.

Steam Frame is on my radar as well. If it can run this standalone all the better.

I'll wait for reviews anyway, spoiled by the 265 nits OLED panels of PSVR2 that really make these kind of games shine. (But at the cost of small sweet spot and chromatic aberration away from the center from the fresnel lenses)

I have the game set to 20% brightness where the darkest figure is almost impossible to make out in the calibration screen, while specular highlights still catch your eye like high beams reflected in side mirrors of a car. It's one of the few titles that make HDR shine, deep blacks, blinding highlights.

Still borderlands 3 with my gf lvl 72 guardian rank 93 mayhem mode lvl 4.

In between playing sudeki on the of xbox
Bloodrayne on ps2

Front Mission 1st Remake

Crashes nearly every playthrough.

I played (and finished) Shin Megami Tensei 3 for the first time. It was great.

Finally, the remaining Backyard Sports games released. Basketball '01 and Hockey '02 were surprisingly released for free. Looks like the bundle of all 6 games is $36. Not bad at all!

Showed these to my daughter and she's surprisingly having a good amount of fun. Learning how to use a mouse can be challenging though lol but she still asks to play them again. Hockey '02 was always my favorite! I wish they brought the games up to modern resolutions and aspect ratios, but apparently the source code was lost for them, so this was the best they could do. Still having a lot of fun playing them again!

The new developers said that a brand new title will be released in 2026 and apparently, they have ambitions for a full fledged animated series down the road! I can see it happening though. Keeping the same characters in each game, alongside the real pro athletes, really gave the franchise a unique identity. Anyone who's played the games knows who Pablo Sanchez, Keisha Phillips, Kenny Kawaguchi, and Dmitri Petrovich are. Such a awesome and diverse cast of characters would make for a great animated show!

If you have a switch, TTYD Remake is on sale for $30 in a few days. Absolutely a steal! Cannot recommend it enough.

Oh(!), and Astro’s Rescue Mission!! That game is a masterpiece!!! Must play if havent already. One of my favorite platformers of all time. Only complaint is that it ends waaaay to soon. Beat the whole thing in one sitting…and that was with breaks.
