Why would he lie? It would just make him look bad if Sony later announces it didn't sell 160m. I just don't get why you and many people here didn't believe Jim who was playstation's boss. He would be one of the few who would know

Do you know what rounding means? He could have rounded up, it's a normal thing to do, and it was more believable than him rounding down, considering a 160m milestone was never announced or even alluded to by Sony until just a few days ago.

Heck, even now it was never announced, just shoved into some web page, and even then we could still assume it was rounded up if the page didn't specifically say "more than 160m".

He said has sold 160m. Why are we assuming he was rounding?

I love how posters are more interested in directing their questions at everyone but Sony/Jim Ryan. So instead of asking us "why would he lie?", you could have asked Sony/Jim "why didn't you say this before?" Or "why did you purposely underreport PS2?"

Maybe it wasn't important or was never bought up? I think Jim was asked recently what was the best thing Playstation accomplished he said PS2 selling 160m. Sony months later confirmed it on their 30th anniversary. It would be embarrassing for both Jim and Sony if people find out they were lying. Even before they officially said it sold 160m I've seen numbers ranging from 158-162m for years. Now that they confirmed it people are getting upset for some reason.

What, you think they sold exactly 160.000.000 PS2 consoles? Or maybe you really don't know what rounding means?

He said it sold 160m doesn't that mean it at least hit 160m? Didn't Sony later confirmed it also? But whatever

Dude try harder, you are literally trying to push the idea that Sony purposely underreported it at 155.1 million. Why report it at 155 million then and now all of a sudden report the correct figures? Also stop projecting your feelings, console warriors love telling other people what their feelings are. The reason for why people like you do this, is because your arguments are that weak and you are doing whatever it takes to defend your favorite company. You are taking all accountability off of Sony because you deep down know something is weird. Your favorite company are the ones with the hurt feelings because PS2 is about to lose that title. So I'll ask another question, if it wasn't important before why is it important now? 30th anniversary? The 500 million milestone was clearly a big deal to them in 2018, did they include the PS2s 155 or 160 million in that achievement? How was that not the perfect time to introduce the 160 million when that figure has to be included in your 500 million achievement? Im not saying they are lying but with them only adjusting the 160 and not the March 2012 date, things are looking fishy.

No, it could have been 160m rounding up or 160m rounding down. For example, you can say that a $399 console costs $400 if you round up, that's a totally normal thing to do. Sony confirmed that it sold more than 160m because that webpage is actually saying it sold "more than 160m", as I've said earlier.

Dude try what harder? You are the one over thinking this. Did Sony announce 155m was their final total? Why was their figures of 158-161m floating around for years after? Even vgchartz had them at 159m. Sony themselves just announced 160m. Just get over it there's nothing you can do about it. You are the console warrior here getting all upset over a number. Maybe PS2 outsold the gamecube by over 130m that generation you still can't get over it. Don't worry you will never see that kind of domination ever again
