Some claim Fallout 76 has gotten a lot better. I haven't tried it though.

It couldn't get any worse.

Final Fantasy XIV, an utterly broken mess about a decade behind the times upon its initial release, before it was basically remade from the ground up and became one of the most successful MMOs of all time.

Ah yes, my favourite examples of how to turn things around, they even built the lore around the failure and the release of a realm reborn to make it even more impressive. That game is a masterpiece of an MMO, I put 2600 hours into it since 2015.

Sea of Thieves comes to mind. Incredibly barebones that I gave up on after a week, but numerous expansions, and 40 million players later before it even reached PS5, it’s become Rare’s biggest game in the company’s history.

Wow, that's impressive. Do you need friends to have fun with it?

It does encourage co-op play, but like a year or two ago Rare added a "safer sees" option. Basically private servers for solo players or a group of friends that don't want to worry about running into other players lol. So you're able to explore, pillage, do quests, etc. at your own pace.

It's on PS5 too, it would behove us to buy it and get more from MS porting over. Can't wait to see the Xbox Insomniac game on PS. It's going to be weird when Xbox games are PRO enhanced and work better than on Xbox, Avowed could get 60fps. 🤔

Definitely. We've come a long from "Xbox has no games" haven't we? it's actually odd that Sunset Overdrive still has not been brought over to PS. It's one of my favorite games of last generation.

Eh, Pro enhanced isn't that big of a deal since it's only going to be a minority number of players, plus all Xbox games come to PC at launch that will always be the best way to play Xbox games by default. It does look like Age of Empires 2 will be the next game to make the jump over to PS in early 2025.

Oh nice one, they remastered it. Love that game. And nah, Xbox blew PS gamers all away with this years e3 showing, PS gamers were applauding them too. That was one of the best showcases in the history of gaming. They are really pulling a PS3 level turn around should it come to pass, I feel bad for Phil though, all that work only for many those games to probably come to PS5. Indian Jones, E-Day, Perfect dark and Avowed all look awesome apart from Avowed running at 30fps.

I honestly think Phil is the only thing getting in the way of Satya Nadella putting everything everywhere day one. Satya made it pretty clear during the FTC hearings that he hates exclusive games. Shame for Phil to finally have all the pieces together for Xbox to properly compete on a software level, only to have the rug pulled out from under him.

That's business for you though and all I can hope is that the additional funds mean that even more great games come out of it!

Yep, exactly. Gotta love his passion though, he's a true gamer at heart and the Shuhei Yoshida of Xbox. They are going to make some bank from it but it's not like they lack funds as is. I don't see aage of Empires selling to well though, nothing like Sea if theives numbers but Indie and Avowed have a good shot if they review well.

Fans brought servers back online for Dreamcast so now there is an active community for Phantasy Star Online on Dreamcast. SEGA shut the servers down in 2003. Fans brought it back many years later and now going strong. The same goes for Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation vs. Zeon on Dreamcast. PSO tho is the one who most plays DC online these days.

I bought it on PS5, mainly to reward Rare for the game as I had only played it on Gamepass before. However I have hardly played it. It's better with friends for sure, alone it's still kinda non engaging. Fun to sail around though! The water is beautiful.

And beware, getting into it now you're thrown into a huge map and somehow have to identify tiny islands by their shape. So you end up zooming and scrolling for a long time on the map to find where the heck you're supposed to go. Not beginner friendly. I actually just ended up using the internet to match the shape of the island and get the map coordinates. There are currently some 75 charted islands, big and small.

Anyway it's something to come back to now and then like NMS. Once I have the pro I have room again to keep it installed :)
