PS5 vs Switch Sales Comparison - September 2024

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the PlayStation 5 and Switch.

The PlayStation 5 launched in November 2020, while the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup.

September 2024 is the 47th month the PlayStation 5 has been available for. In the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Nintendo Switch when compared to the aligned launch of the PlayStation 5 by 0.51 million units.

In the last 12 months, the Switch has outsold the PS5 by 10.45 million units. The PS5 is behind the Switch by 16.89 million units.

The PlayStation 5 has sold 61.94 million units in 47 months, while the Nintendo Switch sold 78.82 million units. Month 47 for the PlayStation 5 is September 2024 and for the Nintendo Switch it is January 2021.

The Nintendo Switch crossed 80 million in month 48, 90 million in month 55, and 100 million in month 58. The Nintendo Switch has sold 143.49 million units to date. The PS5 is 81.55 million units behind lifetime Switch sales.

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S both launched in November 2020. The PlayStation 5 launched November 12, 2020 in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, and the rest of the world on November 19, 2020. The Xbox Series X|S launched worldwide on November 10, 2020.

In the last 12 months, the PlayStation 5 has outsold the Xbox Series X|S by 11.77 million units. The PlayStation 5 is currently ahead by 31.80 million units.

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S launched in November 2020, while the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One launched in November 2013. This does mean the holiday periods for the two consoles do lineup.

Switch vs DS Sales Comparison - September 2024

This monthly series compares the aligned worldwide sales of the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo DS.

The DS launched in November 2004 in North America, December 2004 in Japan, and March 2005 in Europe, while the Nintendo Switch launched worldwide in March 2017. Therefore, the holiday periods for the two consoles do not lineup, which is why there are big increases and decreases.

September 2024 is the 91st month that the Nintendo Switch has been available for. During the latest month, the gap grew in favor of the Switch by 0.61 million units when compared to the DS during the same timeframe.

In the last 12 months, the Switch has outsold the DS by 6.74 million units. The DS is ahead of the Switch by 7.36 million units.

The 91st month on sale for the Nintendo Switch is September 2024, while for the DS it is May 2012. The Switch has sold 143.49 million units, while the DS sold 150.84 million units during the same timeframe.

The Nintendo DS sold 154.02 million units lifetime. The Nintendo Switch is currently 10.53 million units behind the lifetime sales of the DS.
