God knows how many times I have seen the credits of Star Fox 64. It’s definitely the winner by far, should be dozens of times. But that’s a short arcade style game. For the rest I beat several of the big main Zelda games around 5 or 6 times over the past decades. I think I beat OoT the most, I think six times, including the Gamecube Master Quest and OoT3D, but not always 100%. Besides that I think I beat Knights of the Old Republic 4 times; light and dark on male and female. But now that I think of it, I might’ve beaten KotOR2 more because of the restoration mod.

Most of the time in my life I’ve been playing endless games though, like city builders. I played Anno 1602 or Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 thousands of hours probably. Can I just divide that by 40-ish and say I beat those 100 times?

Lol, no. But there are end points of those types of games, no? I've never actually seen it through but doesn't City Skylines have objectives you follow or is that just a guide? Not sure about roller coaster Tycoon but Theme Hospital and Two Point, my go to's can be beaten, it's very difficult to do but it can be done.

Yeah true a lot can technically be beaten in a way. A ‘campaign’ or story mode, or a set of scenarios with objectives to reach. Rollercoaster Tycoon (1 and 2) also has a scenario mode with objectives, there’s like 20 maps or something. Of all the hours I played the game though, I never spent any on any scenario lol.

Around the Network

RE5 at about 10 times (co-op with a number of friends).

Besides this and maybe Touhou 8, I didn't finish any game more than 3-4 times (Shadow of the Colossus, Bloodborne, RE1 Remake, RE4, FF6, FF8, FFX, maybe DMC1, 3 and 4). Not counting fighting games arcade mode.

These days I rarely finish a game more than once.

Super Mario Bros 3 - probably tops the list with over 50 playthroughs. Me and my brothers like to play randomized versions of the game and race each other. I often pick this up and play for short sessions just because.

Legend of Zelda a Link to the Past - around 25 playthroughs, similar situation to smb3, play and race with my brothers.

Resident evil 4 - something like 20 times across 5 platforms.

Fire emblem the Blazing Blade - 14 times but might be the game I spent the most total hours in since one playthrough takes quite a lot of time and I play and replay the same maps often.

Nice one. That is one of the best co-op games ever, must be fun to have someone still aroubd to play with. I've always just wanted to finish SB3 lol. I can never get through world 8, I'd imagine it's quite easy now with the rewind feature on switch but that's no fun. Getting through the sun/sand world which is brutal is the feat I have to settle with, world 8 is too hard.

SMB3 is the first game I remember ever playing, got it with my baby bottle sort of. Back then I used the game genie to add some features to the game to be able to win. One code made it possible to infinitely jump in the air.

SMB3s levels are rather hard but short, there are still some levels like the small airships level in world 8 that I still struggle with. Being stingy with the use of items in the earlier world saving some p-wings for world 8 helps a lot. Still not that much help on some levels like bowsers castle but the two numbered world 8 levels and the small airship one they are pretty much a free pass.

I only play short and casual games multiple times. Longer and harder maybe second time 10-20 years later. Always so much new games waiting.

Only exception is my favorite series: I've played Wing Commander around 40 times.
The expansions and WC2 and its expansions at least a dozen times,
WC3, WC: Prophecy & Secret Ops and Privateer 1&2 maybe half dozen.

Dragon Strike about 10 times.

First Monkey Island (as various versions) at least 20 times.

Some of the little old Master System games I've played at least 30 times: Rampage, Slap Shot, Snail Maze
Similarly in Fatal Racing (PC) I've played a 1½ hour series tens of times.

Strategy games can be hard to define what playing through means, unless there's a clear campaign. I've played a whole lot of Civilization 1, Master of Orion 1&2, Crush! Deluxe and some others.

I probably beat Civilization 6 at least 100+ times now lol!
