Forums - Sales Discussion - Official Big 3 Quarterly/Annual Results for shipments to date & projections

TheSource said:

Microsoft said that in the fourth quarter Xbox 360 and PC game revenue decreased 12 % to $110 million “primarily as a result of decreased Xbox 360 console sales and decreased revenue per Xbox 360 console due to price reductions during the past 12 months, partially offset by increased Xbox Live revenue.”

Does this means that game revenues from XBOX360 games decreased as the number of XBOX sold have decreased...??

So when are Sony's and Nintendo's numbers coming? Aren't they late already?

Bets with Conegamer:

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

Taking three extra days to shuffle the numbers, lol. Must be shitty numbers to begin with.

Currently playing on PS3: God of War III

Currently playing on Xbox360: Final Fantasy XIII

Currently playing on NDS: Chrono Trigger

Maybe they've had to make more adjustments or alterations to their forecasts than they thought. It doesn't bode well they have had to delay.

I think they are trying to find out a way to tell their shareholders that they screwed up really big time with their projections, but that they need not to sell the shares, which will happen no matter what they do.

Fullfilled Prophecies

Any predictions anyone wants to make?

I shall predict Sony shall revise PS3 down from 13 million shipments to 10m, Nintendo will not raise DS projection and will cut Wii all the way down to 15m. Not great predicts but hey ho.

DS is ahead of last year's pace through July. With remakes of Pokemon coming in September in Japan, and DSi still doing well in the west I think they'll raise either HW or SW for DS...maybe both.

As for Wii, they'll probably lower hw but I really think they're preparing for a price drop, so I think we'll see Wii down to 23, 24m and then they'll raise their software target and cut their profit forecast (i.e. all indicative of a price cut to try to kick Wii up over the holidays).

I think PSP should be lowered but they'll likely wait on the PSP Go as BKK2 said a few pages back. PS3 will be lowered as there is no cut before August it looks like...so they have at best 8 month to raise sales 4m. I just don't see it. But 11.5m or so is possible with a $100 cut I think, and 10m probably doable with a $50 cut. If they lower their hardware projection but intend to cut price overall software will only be down a little. I think 225m across the three Playstations still looks good. But PS2 software is pretty much dead (~48m OS2 games bought by retailers for a base of ~142m for the March 2010 fiscal year means only 1 in 3 PS2 users are buying a game for the year) and PSP software is down alot over last year to date.
