but that would mean around 2 million on the shelves?
Hint of what is to come?
Gamasutra says Sony claimed PS3 + PSP shipments were 61 million at CES.
Through September 2008, Sony announced it had shipped about 17m PS3s and about 44m PSPs (see earlier in this thread for links). Which adds up to 61 million.
Its January though. Why not reveal some hint about the last quarter?
My guess is the numbers are worse than they thought they would be for PS3/PSP and thats why no info was revealed. We'll have to see though.

Sony only ever give out shipment numbers from their previous earnings announcement, never before. I'm pretty sure the same is true for Nintendo. It's only Microsoft who release shipment numbers prior to their earnings release.
CY Q3 Shipments (LTD):
NDS: 6.79m (84.33m)
WII: 4.93m (34.55m)
PSP: 3.18m (44.5m)
PS2: 2.5m (133.8m)
PS3: 2.43m (16.84m)
360: 2.2m (22.5m)
He said 61.3m, so at least it confirms the PSP numbers are correct.
I always thought the PSP shipment figures were a *little* too high for this FY.
If Sony has to downgrade PS3 forecasts again - and after such a modest forecast was made - it will be serious egg on their faces. I think they will just ramp up bundles, or even do a "clearance" sale in March to get the required numbers (esp. if the gap is fairly low).

They gave hard sales numbers at CES last year for the holidays and that is whole point as to why they didn't even provide any hint this year. Especially so after MS numbers.

Those are SCEA sold through numbers for last holiday season, not Global shipment numbers. SCEA did the same thing this year:

No SCEA gave us percentages before CES, which means nothing because they are so cryptic. Not hard figures like they did last year at CES. I'm not even talking basic global shipment numbers I'm talking any hint in the world on they performed with hard figures like last year
Ok, but that's completely unrelated to the topic of this thread.
Does MS actually give a running total of their Hardware and software shipments?
(like Sony does on one of it's websites, and Nintendo does in the fiscals at the very bottom of the report)
I couldn't open the file that BKK linked to last quarterly (the link in this thread on page 3 I think) because it said I had run out of memory, and it didn't give the info I wanted in the slideshow.
So if they do give anything regarding software shipments (not the attach ratio that they usually quote for NPD) can someone post it in here.
