Egypt FM says coordinating with Turkiye to ensure ceasefire holds

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty said his country and Turkiye have agreed on the importance of joint efforts to support the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement.

He said both sides will work together to move toward the second phase of the deal and discussed ongoing negotiations regarding the US draft Security Council resolution and the proposal for an international stabilisation force.

Abdelatty stressed the need to ensure the ceasefire continues and that Gaza does not return to war, adding that talks with Washington are ongoing over deploying an international force to monitor the implementation of the truce.

The comments come as Israel has repeatedly violated the ceasefire, launching attacks and conducting demolitions across several areas of the Gaza Strip in recent weeks.

Netanyahu thanks Trump for sending letter to Herzog requesting he be pardoned

In a post on X, Netanyahu has thanked Trump for his “incredible support” after he sent a letter to Israel’s President Isaac Herzog asking him to pardon the Israeli prime minister.

“As usual, you get right to the point and call it like it is. I look forward to continuing our partnership to bolster security and expand peace,” Netanyahu wrote.

In his letter, the US president called the corruption charges against Netanyahu “political” and “unjustified. He also hailed Netanyahu’s leadership in the war, an assault that killed more than 69,000 Palestinians, including at least 20,000 children, and which United Nations investigators have described as a genocide.

Trump cannot request a pardon for the Israeli PM: Lapid

Israeli opposition Leader Yair Lapid has told the Knesset that there comes a moment when people who call themselves part of the “national camp” must also say to a US president “We are a sovereign state; there’s a limit to intervention.”

“You cannot send letters and request a pardon for the Israeli prime minister in a criminal proceeding”, Lapid said.

Lapid is a staunch political opponent of Netanyahu’s, who also served as prime minister of the country in 2022.

UN torture committee scrutinises Israel

The UN Committee against Torture is currently holding its largest session this month, examining several countries on how they are upholding the Convention Against Torture, to which they are signatories.

First on the list is Israel, in session yesterday and today.

Twenty-eight Israeli officials appeared in front a panel of 10 UN experts on torture in Geneva.

The experts asked Israel: “Does Israel have a law against torture?” The answer from the Israeli delegation was “No.”

“Does Israel apply the agreements it has signed against torture in Gaza and the West Bank?” the continued, to which the answer was also no.

The committee confronted Israel with multiple reports and a long list of violations against Palestinians, which the Israelis denied most of them and offered justifications for the rest, including “self-defense”.

Israel has been the recipient of multiple accusations of torture in relation to its two-year war on Gaza. In one instance, a video leaked from its infamous Sde Teiman military prison appeared to show Israeli soldiers raping a Palestinian detainee.

In addition, dozens of dead bodies of Palestinian detainees have been returned to Gaza since the start of a ceasefire exhibiting signs of torture.

The UN Committee Against Torture will issue a non-binding summary of its findings at the end of November.

Elbit systems signs agreement with Albania: Report

Israeli newspaper Haaretz is reporting that the Israeli defence company Elbit Systems has signed an agreement with Albania to supply a range of advanced artillery and drone systems, while also helping develop Albania’s domestic defence industry.

The deal, which Haaretz states was signed in September, includes 155mm ATMOS howitzers, 120mm SPEAR mortar systems based on Elbit’s CARDOM design, and two types of short-range tactical drones, the Magni-X and Thor.

Haaretz stated that the agreement reflects deepening defence ties between Israel and Albania, in line with Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama’s goal of building the country’s local military production capacity.

UK court rejects Al-Haq appeal of arms exports to Israel

The Palestinian human rights group Al-Haq says its legal challenge against the UK government’s continued licensing of F-35 fighter jet parts to Israel has concluded after the Court of Appeal in London rejected its request to appeal a High Court ruling.

The case, launched in December 2023, sought to halt Britain’s export of F-35 parts that enter the global supply chain reaching Israel. The court upheld the government’s position that such matters fall under executive authority rather than judicial review.

Al-Haq said the decision exposes an “accountability gap” that leaves governments’ foreign policy decisions, including arms exports, free from meaningful legal oversight, even when they may contribute to violations of international humanitarian law.

The group said the UK remains complicit in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza.

Al-Haq called on British MPs to demand full transparency from the government regarding its assessments of Israel’s conduct and to subject the continued supply of weapons to a democratic process.

Police use force to disperse pro-Palestine protest in New Jersey

Police in New Jersey used force to disperse a pro-Palestine protest held outside a synagogue in Livingston, where former Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant was scheduled to speak.

Demonstrators chanted against Gallant, accusing him of killing Palestinians in Gaza.

Among the protesters were Rabbis who waved Palestinian flags, wore keffiyehs, and carried signs reading “Protect children, arrest Gallant” and “Gallant guilty of genocide”.

The protest escalated when participants blocked the road leading to the synagogue, prompting police to move in.

Videos verified by Al Jazeera show police pushing back a crowd of peaceful protesters, some waving Palestinian flags and holding signs, before pinning several to the ground and dragging them away in handcuffs.

Police used batons to beat protesters who tried to intervene and help those being detained.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Gallant over war crimes committed during the war on Gaza.

Police protecting a wanted war criminal, classy.

I know police do good as well, yet between UK police arresting people in wheelchairs for terrorism and USA going off the rails with ICE, as well as racial profiling still not being properly addressed, I've lost my trust in the police. It's a shame police departments don't see how this all reflects back on them. Just doing my job, fuck you. Your job is not to clear the road for wanted war criminals to pass.

Israel attacks Gaza City, Beit Lahiya, Khan Younis

We are getting reports of multiple Israeli attacks across Gaza – from Beit Lahiya in the north to Khan Younis in the south.

Our colleagues at Al Jazeera Arabic said Israeli forces carried out air raids, artillery attacks and demolition operations in eastern areas of Gaza City and Khan Younis.

Air raids also hit northern Gaza’s Beit Lahiya.

Latest Israeli attack occurs near northern Gaza’s Zikim crossing

Palestinians have been hearing the sound of explosions over the past four weeks since the ceasefire was announced and was supposed to end all acts of violence on the ground. The Israeli military has continued to demolish and detonate many remaining residential buildings.

Over the past few hours, the Israeli military carried out attacks in the eastern part of Khan Younis, as well as in the northern part of Beit Lahiya. That’s near the Zikim crossing that is supposed to open and allow the entry of humanitarian aid. All these areas fall behind the yellow line that is under Israeli control.

New Israeli air raids hit Khan Younis

Our colleagues on the ground are reporting several new Israeli attacks inside the yellow line, which demarcates Israeli-held territory, in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis. They include two air raids and a demolition operation in the eastern part of the city, our colleagues reported, without noting any casualties.

Despite the more than a monthlong ceasefire, Israeli forces have carried out near-daily attacks in Gaza, killing at least 245 people and injuring 627, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry.

Israel destroyed 90% of Gaza’s vegetation: Khan Younis mayor

The mayor of Gaza’s southern city of Khan Younis says Israeli attacks across the enclave have wiped out much of its vegetation and made it difficult to access landfills for proper waste disposal.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Arabic, Mayor Alaa al-Batta said more than 90 percent of Gaza’s vegetation has been decimated. “We are facing a real catastrophe that results in the spread of diseases and epidemics,” he added.

Flimsy tents not enough to protect Gaza residents from cold as winter approaches

The situation across Gaza remains deeply concerning. It’s started to get very cold at night, and soon we will start to see heavy rainfall. The tents housing displaced people are not prepared to withstand these weather conditions as winter approaches.

Since the Israeli military has blocked the entry of mobile homes and better tents, people must rely on recycled materials. In addition, there are not enough blankets or fuel to help people stay warm.

At the same time, hospitals are also unprepared to deal with potential waves of patients suffering from infectious diseases.

Pharmacy shelves remain empty in Gaza City

Four land crossings in Gaza are still almost completely blocked. Only two are somewhat operational, allowing trucks and commercial items to trickle in.

It’s been announced that a third crossing (Zikim, in the north) has reopened, but we haven’t seen evidence on the ground of how many trucks or what kind of aid is coming through there.

Still, there are no medical supplies. Taking a short walk to any of the pharmacies in Gaza City, you will find empty shelves with no antibiotics.

Water is also a significant issue for people. Many do not have access to clean drinking water.

While food is trickling in, the type of food that is entering is non-essential. Protein and vitamin-rich sources are completely absent. It’s easy to find cans of soda in the market, for example, but pharmacies do not have a single antibiotic.

Gaza death toll rises

At least two bodies and five injured people have been received by Gaza hospitals in the past 24 hours, according to the enclave’s Health Ministry.

Since the October 10 ceasefire came into force, Israel has killed 260 Palestinians and injured 632, the ministry said in a statement. The bodies of 533 Palestinians have also been recovered from the rubble of previous Israeli attacks, the ministry added.

Israel’s war on Gaza has killed a total of 69,187 people and injured 170,703 since October 7, 2023, it said.

One more Israeli captive’s body to be handed over at 18:00 GMT: Hamas

The Palestinian group says al-Quds Brigades, the armed wing of Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, will hand over one more Israeli captive’s body at 8:00pm Gaza time (18:00 GMT).

Hamas said in a statement published on Telegram that the body was found today in the Morag area, north of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Hamas appeals for support for Gaza’s war-battered education system

The Palestinian group has urged global support for students in Gaza, whose education it says is “an integral part” of the Palestinian struggle for “freedom, independence and building a brighter future”.

In a post on Telegram, Hamas congratulated high school graduates in Gaza who recently received delayed exam results for achieving “excellence despite the harsh and horrific conditions they endured during the war”.

The group also called upon all “countries, institutions, and organisations concerned with education worldwide to provide sustained support to our students, universities, and schools in the Gaza Strip, enabling them to continue their educational and national mission”.

Israel violated Gaza ceasefire 282 times: Media Office

Gaza’s Government Media Office says Israel’s “blatant and systematic” truce deal violations have resulted in the killings of 242 Palestinians and injuries of more than 620 others since October 10.

“We condemn in the strongest terms these repeated acts of aggression and hold the Israeli occupation fully responsible for their humanitarian and security repercussions,” its statement said.

“We emphasise that their continuation constitutes a clear threat to the spirit of the agreement and a violation of the occupation’s obligations to the international community and the guarantor states.”

The office called on “US President Donald Trump, the guarantor states, and the mediators to assume their responsibilities and exert real pressure on the occupation force to compel it to immediately cease its violations and respect its signed commitments”.

As we have reported earlier, Gaza’s Health Ministry gave a higher updated death toll since ceasefire, putting the number of those killed at 260 and wounded at 632.

Israel keeps Zikim crossing closed despite announcing its reopening for aid trucks

Al Jazeera’s Hani Mahmoud, reporting from Gaza City, says despite announcing the reopening of the Zikim crossing for aid trucks, Israel has kept the crossing closed and no trucks have been allowed through.

He says the situation underscores a “misleading” Israeli narrative suggesting conditions in Gaza are improving, while the reality on the ground remains dire.

While commercial goods have been trickling into the Strip, essential supplies including medicines and food at scale remain largely absent from the market.

UN bodies and rights groups have repeatedly urged Israeli forces to allow unimpeded access into Gaza, calling for all border crossings to open immediately so aid can reach the many who need it as needs continue to grow amid displacement and a battered healthcare system.

Israeli settlers set fire to mosque near West Bank’s Salfit: Report

A group of Israeli settlers have vandalised a mosque near the town of Salfit in the occupied West Bank, according to the Wafa news agency.

Quoting a local activist, the agency reports that Israeli settlers poured flammable material at the entrance of the mosque and wrote racial slurs on its walls. The report said residents helped put the fire out before it spread through the mosque.

Israeli forces round up 25 people in latest West Bank raids: Report

UN statistics highlight deteriorating situation in occupied West Bank

Every week, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) gives an update on the humanitarian situation in the occupied West Bank. Here are a few key facts from its latest report:

  • This year, more than 1,500 Palestinians have been displaced by demolitions due to the lack of permits, which are almost impossible to obtain, including about 1,000 in Area C and 500 in occupied East Jerusalem.
  • Satellite imagery shows that about 1,460 structures have been destroyed or damaged in Jenin, Nur Shams and Tulkarem refugee camps.
  • Since October 1, OCHA has documented 167 settler attacks related to this year’s olive harvest season, affecting 87 Palestinian communities.
  • Between November 4 and 10, Israeli forces killed four Palestinians, including three children, in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. In total, since January, 45 Palestinian children have been killed by Israeli forces – about 23 percent of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank so far this year.
  • Since January, the Israeli forces’ operation in refugee camps in the northern West Bank – Jenin, Nur Shams and Tulkarem – has generated the longest and largest displacement crisis in the West Bank since 1967.
  • As of September, UNRWA figures indicate that at least 31,919 Palestinian refugees have been displaced from the three refugee camps and surrounding areas.

Top US diplomat Rubio warns West Bank violence could jeopardise Gaza ceasefire

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has expressed concern that settler violence in the occupied West Bank could undermine efforts to maintain the ceasefire in Gaza after a string of attacks across the Palestinian territory.

“There is certainly some concern that events in the West Bank could have repercussions that could undermine what we are doing in Gaza,” Rubio told reporters. “We don’t expect that to happen, and we will do everything we can to ensure that it doesn’t.”

His comments come after dozens of masked settlers launched a large-scale arson attack on Palestinian industrial and agricultural facilities east of Tulkarem. They caused large fires and injured several people.

In a rare rebuke by Israeli authorities, army chief Eyal Zamir condemned the violence and said the military “will not tolerate criminal behaviour by a small minority that tarnishes the law-abiding public”.

Israeli President Isaac Herzog also condemned the raids, calling on authorities to “act decisively to eradicate the phenomenon”.

Human rights groups and the UN have warned that these attacks happen in a “permissive environment” thanks to the backing of key ministers in the Israeli government and sometimes with the support of Israeli soldiers.

Israel arrests 40 Palestinians in latest West Bank raids: Prisoner’s Society

The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) has released data on Israel’s latest wave of arrests and field interrogations in the occupied West Bank. It says Israeli forces apprehended a total of 40 Palestinians, including a number of former prisoners, in raids since last night.

The arrests took place in the areas of Hebron, Nablus, Tulkarem and Ramallah, according to the group, which claimed Israeli forces also assaulted detainees’ relatives and vandalised their homes during the raids.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has made about 20,500 arrests during near-daily raids in the occupied West Bank, according to the PPS.

Israeli settlers attack Palestinians harvesting olives in occupied West Bank: Report

The Wafa news agency is reporting several new incursions by Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank.

In one case, a group of Israeli settlers attacked people picking olives near the Palestinian town of Aqraba, according to the agency.

In another, armed settlers stormed a Bedouin community around the town of Mikhmas – located near an illegal Israeli settlement – and used a bulldozer to block a road linking the town and the settlement, Wafa said.

Israel claims to have dismantled Hamas ‘stronghold’ in occupied West Bank

The Israeli army has said it, along with Israeli police and security services, “dismantled a Hamas stronghold” in the occupied West Bank, arresting more than 50 fighters who are now being interrogated.

The army said in a statement that it conducted more than 15 operations in the Bethlehem area. In one of the operations, it claimed that Israeli soldiers confiscated multiple weapons.

50 fighters, 'stronghold', multiple weapons. Does not add up.
