Forums - Gaming - Can resistance 2 be "sonys halo?"

I wasn't aware that Resistance had outsold Halo 3 in the PAL regions, so my initial reaction to the question is void. That said, I don't think Resistance will do for Sony in Europe et. al. what Halo has done for Microsoft in North America. The Halo series is arguably the biggest gun that the X-Box line has in its favor, and its responsible for much of Microsoft's console success here.
In contrast, I don't think too many people buy a PS3 primarily to play Resistance. It may move a few systems here and there, and its moved plenty of units, but I think the formula is more "buy a PS3 and maybe pick up Resistance" than "Buy a PS3 so that I can pick up Resistance."

No it wont
Halo made it's start on the Xbox 1 so it had a fan base of xbox people allready. So they bought the x360 to get the new halo.
Resistance started on the PS3 anyone who likes it allready has a PS3 and wont need to buy new hardware so it will have good software sales but hardware wont be as good as the Halo launch on the 360.
Grand tourismo is sonys equivelant to halo and it does not deliver in my opinion due to the following
NO damage
NO Motion steering ( wasnt this meant to be the Next Gen Feature of the PS3/sixaxis )
Instead of listening to people and giving them these things they spent all their time on a feature no one can care less about - moddeling the interior dashboard totally irrelevant -polyphony/sony are idiots.

With well over 1M copies (physical) of GT5:P purchased and counting, plus historic sales of GT games that have exceeded those of Halo games, I doubt anyone involved is feeling like an idiot.

You're right about Halo's start and position vs RFOM though, I'll give you that.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Resistance is sonys halo. The first one was better than halo 2 and halo 3 imo.

However Resistance will never match halo in terms of sales and popularity, but it has the potential to be way better than Halo.

The second one will kill halo 3: 2 campaigns that actually make sense, 60 player online, custom classes etc.
