Well deserved agreed. Even though I'm not that fond of the things Halo introduced / paved the way for (paid online, regenerating health, 2 weapon limit). However I can't deny it single handedly put a new console on the map and the hype for Halo 3 was insane. I miss those midnight launches, people camping out in front of stores in long lines.

Of the choices in the poll, Smash Melee. The actual best game of 2001 for me, and the game of that entire generation, is Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2 Rogue Leader.
