I see no reason that the same argument won't work for this idea that GTA V will be forced to go to the PS3. On a personal note, it is interesting that a developer brings up this issue, since I would assume he knows all about compression. But that doesn't mean that GTA V couldn't come to the 360 though, but perhaps with further compression that might hurt it's quality. |

There you go using common sense. Its not allowed didnt you get the memo. Besides now the naysayers will come in and tell you its impossible to make a sandbox free roaming game on 2 discs because its not linear. Never mind that there are work arounds. ;P |
Yes there are and most of them involve installing some data on the HDD which is why the Rockstar guy was saying Microsoft has to get around either the HDD or the optical storage issue....
Besides as a developper you have enough challenge without having to worry about the size of your game and he's bitching about the additional work that will entail for them. (Seriously, every PC comes with 400Gb+ HDD these days and everyone thought storage was an issue of the past and suddenly it's going to become a hot topic again because the Wii and some 360 SKUs don't have a HDD.)

ya like 2 disk requiring a hard drive install most people who are getting this game probably have a hard drive. or will by then.
well I also don't belive it will come this gen they have the DLC to work on.. if they pass it to PS 3 too they have to work on that... aren't they working on other project too ??
and about compression being bad at some point, yeah very true, but i also expect the compression format to improve in the future...
on top of that isn't the DVD drive of the XBox 360 compatible with double layer DVDs?? they could easily stock the game on one layer... and the cinematic and the multiplayer on the other one... maybe.....???

i never believe a bias site online. cause if it starts with a ps3. something or other .com then you can guarantee its bias towards the ps3...so believe it when it is from the actual companies website or even an gaming conventions website.

On the compression thing, that's a possible reason for stating what he said, but don't you think that maybe Lionhead isn't being completely honest. I mean whenever a developer talks about space you say that they are being dishonest in one way or another, but couldn't Lionhead just be dishonest? |
I doubt Lionhead are being dishonest about the compression ratiio. 1:100 is about the same level of compression that movies on BD and HD-DVD have so it is reasonable to assume that game data can also be compressed at that rate without any loss in quality.
What's his point? That it would be a PS3 exclusive, or that they'll wait for the next gen? I don't see the former happening, that would be like throwing money out the window! The game would probably still be profitable as an exclusive, but not nearly as much.
