Forums - Sony - PlayStation Nation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

Patapon and Everybody can golf are getting ports/new game by Bandai Namco for PC and Switch so officially Sony has a partnership with Bandai to push Japan Studios IPs.

For all the internet people who constantly talk about of lack of effort to push old IPs .... "Are you not entertained?" LOL.

Super interesting and actually smart. Let Bandai do the ports and test the waters for your, see what works, look for new opportunities like what Astro did last year.

100%

Sony isnt doing much with the IPs so might as well give licensing agreements with other third parties to release it.

Just like with Freedom Wars.

Hopefully we'll see more.

I'm optimistic about the likes of LocoRoco and Tokyo Jungle especially now!

This also allows Sony to very casually go more and more multiplat with their IP without much pushback.

You called down the thunder, now reap the whirlwind

Hoping for Arc the Lad and Wild Arms to get the same treatment.

Also Soul Sacrifice.

If it took you that long in a single try then yes, it's an annoying mf. But I died a number of times trying to figure out how to beat it optimally with a minimal amount of brute forcing. So watching the same cutscenes over and over again was the annoying part to me. This boss kinda forced me to improve my understanding to the mechanics, especially slow ass Aerith's.

Don't forget to try it on hard lol. Remake and Rebirth have some of the best hard modes in gaming.

When I do a repeat playthrough, I'll do that likely on PS5 - is hard mode unlocked from the beginning? Cant remember.

I'm playing on Steam but I do have the PS5 versions of Remake and Rebirth as well (yes I double dipped lol).

Unfortunately, finishing the game on Normal is required for both games. I replayed and finished Remake Intergrade on Hard but postponed replaying Rebirth to when I get a PS5 Pro and a 4K OLED TV.

Damn, they still havent patched it in, so dumb that you gotta do one playthrough just to unlock a basic hard mode.

Anyway, sorry for the massive post, I'm very excited for GoW news, but I want the news to be great news, as I love the franchise and think it deserves only the best.

It's all good bro! I enjoy reading your posts even if there is some stuff I disagree with. You clearly love GoW which is great!

I will admit that I think it's strange that Sony don't just publish these games themselves. But I do think that this licensing makes sense for them and doesn't go against their current strategy. These are older games getting remasters, so Switch and PC releases aren't really unexpected.

Though, I feel like in some cases this makes a case against the very PS Classics programe they have going on. I dunno, it's just weird how it's all come together.

It's interesting to see that Sony will license their old Japan Studio IPs to Namco for Switch and PC ports but not on Xbox. They know there is nothing to gain from that move.

Sony allowing 3rd party publishers/devs to use their dead IP's and bring them to Switch is pretty exciting. They got a rich collection of cool dormant IP's that have decent sales potential when accessing Switch and PC playerbases. The main concern now is quality.

Can't wait for Dark Cloud 3's announcement!
