Forums - Sony Discussion - PlayStation Nation |OT| Playing Astro Bot on the Horizon Until Dawn

It's looking like 2024 is going to be a backlog year for me.

Don't think I'm going to get any games Day One next year. I'm excited for Final Fantasy Rebirth, but I still need to play FFVII remake, although Rebirth may be an early frontrunner for GoTY. Rise of The Ronin and Pacific Drive intrigue me, but reviews/impressions for those games are critical.

Does Sony own the Rise of the Ronin IP? Or is it just an XDev collaboration?

The former would compensate greatly for a lighter first party schedule.

I don't know if Sony owns the IP, but they're publishing the game.

Sony actually has the PlayStation Studios logo in the opening.

I'm so looking forward to FFVII Rebirth but at the same time I'm so afraid they'll shit the bed with the convoluted story nonsense.

At the end of the first game, we were supposedly free of fate, and things were going to widely diverge as the original game was literally remade, but now it's "nope lol the trilogy still ends exactly the same and leads to Advent Children!"

I honestly don't see how that can be the case without severe leaps of logic. Sephiroth has no reason to try to kill Aerith, for one. Two of the Avalanche trio are still alive but they have to die too. And who the fuck knows what will happen with Zack.

Almost always Sony keep IPs when paying for devs to develop a game they publish, at least they will have a say on where those games launch.

I doubt it. The game has KT copyright. It's basically just an extension of their Nioh collaboration, but this time Sony has global publishing rights, rather than just non-Japanese markets.

Also xDev collaboration doesn't mean they don't own the IP, in fact it usually means they do.
