30% ownership from Tencent almost feels like it's not something Sony is going to get themselves into, but I guess Tencent might be willing to sell.

I don't think it's so much that Tencent would have to be willing to sell, since they own a minority share.

I think they'd have to convince Swen Vincke to sell, and Tencent would have to decide to beat the offer and acquire Larian for themselves or decide they'd rather take the money.

I read that this is just a daily update. But still nonetheless, there's potential for this to be good for Sony. MS may have dropped the ball on this, but guess we'll see if there's an audience for the game on PS5/ console .

I hope it does really well.  I want to see more games like this put onto consoles.

Baldur's Gate 3 is doing phenomenally on Steam and is one of the highest rated games of the year so far.

Despite saying they have no interest in being acquired, Sony seems to lock up studios that value their independence, such as Bluepoint and Insomniac. They would make a great addition to the PlayStation family, filling a gap in their portfolio, and would be a relatively cheap buy as well.

I don't want Sony to buy Lariat, but if they do I would hope they go the Bungie route and keep they totally independent and use them for internal consulting to re-establish a studio with RPG.

SE which should ideally also be independent, but we know that there is the risk of MS acquiring or others, Sony must consider to buy and yes hire a lot more to have more teams to bring back JRPGs that are dormant.

The best Sony could do is a higher budget Oreshika. That could work.

Also seems like FF16 had sold within expectations. That's good. It just needs legs now.

Baldur's Gate 3 could be the GOTY from what I have seen and read.
