Zohran Mamdani and the Total Freak-out of NYC Power Brokers

Trump on Mamdani: "I think I'm gonna have a lot of fun watching him, because he has to come right to this building to get his money. Don't worry -- he's not gonna run away with anything. Frankly, I've heard he's a total nut job. I think the people of New York are crazy."

They also whined about our assisted dying bill and nothing from Keir in response. These cheeky fuckers said: “The western world should stand for life, vitality and hope over surrender and death,” Labelling assisted suicide for the terminally ill as surrender is so fucked up. They are also apparently too stupid to know that 12 US states already do assisted dying.

We also have these American Christofascist groups operating in the UK now, their target is our abortion rights, they're trying to cause drama around abortion centres, the American fascists are actively trying to poison our country with their bullshit and Keir is just letting them. I'm fairly sure JD Vance also whined about us decriminalising abortion but can't find it right now.

It's so hypocritical that euthanasia for pets is considered humane, but for humans it's taboo...

The whole Christians against abortion also shows quality of life means nothing to them. Only numbers for the sheeple count. Instead of attacking abortion clinics, maybe attack Israel and the IDF for bombing and starving pregnant women and babies on a mass scale.

Infant formula ‘completely’ run out in Gaza, says Unfpa
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) warned on Monday that hundreds of newborns in incubators at Nasser Hospital in the southern city of Khan Yunis are at imminent risk of death, due to the lack of formula milk.

Is JD Vance going to lecture us on free speech again!? Now that we're launching an official investigation into mean words uttered by a rapper on a stage while partying, this would be a good time to chime in, couch boy.

what a news cycle this is. Fucking hopeless.

Republican hypocrisy, they are now the party who gets the most upset by words, but we always knew they were a bunch of hypocrites, free speech for them but not for anyone else, can't even enter America now if you criticise Trump, Lmao. And they want to get upset about a rapper chanting death to a genocidal military? Oops, I've now been banned from entering America.

What's happening to the rapper is actually the worst kind of censorship. If you deny a rapper visa to travel and perform in other countries, you're effectively canceling him and destroying his career.

This is ultimate cancel culture.

Every right winger should come out and denounce it. But watch MAGA bend over again and justify it, because the perfect daddy's image must not be besmirched. .

It's crazy how fast it fell out of the news, that Trump supporter shooting dead a Democrat in a political assassination, and attempting to kill more, I only knew the funeral was going on thanks to Reddit but other than that it has been silent since it came out he was a Trump voter, I guarantee though if he was a Democrat, the news media would be shouting at Democrats for weeks, asking them if they should "turn down the rhetoric"

All I saw was a few photos on Reddit of the funeral and the dog photo

WASHINGTON (AP) — A proposal to deter states from regulating artificial intelligence for a decade was soundly defeated in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday, thwarting attempts to insert the measure into President Donald Trump’s big bill of tax breaks and spending cuts.

The Senate voted 99-1 to strike the AI provision from the legislation after weeks of criticism from both Republican and Democratic governors and state officials.

Originally proposed as a 10-year ban on states doing anything to regulate AI, lawmakers later tied it to federal funding so that only states that backed off on AI regulations would be able to get subsidies for broadband internet or AI infrastructure.

Some good news from this terrible bill and comforting that this is a bipartisan issue, fuck this AI shit.

Little bit more good news on the terrible bill.

Senate Leaders Scrap New Tax on Renewable Energy

Incredible news for trans people - the Medicaid provision is out of the Trump horror bill. It did not require a point of order vote, and instead, Republicans pulled it out on their own, likely knowing they would lose the vote.

Good job to everyone for calling their Senators.

And that's probably all the good news we're going to get, the bill passes in the Senate 50-50 with JD Vance tiebreak.

51-50: Vice President JD Vance casts his fourth tie breaking vote in support of the final Senate changes to the House-passed GOP tax and spending cuts bill. Republicans Collins, Paul, and Tillis voted No.

This is a horrific bill that will cause so much harm...

Mamdani wins by 12 percentage points.

In other words, voters who chose someone other than Mamdani and Cuomo as their first preference went for Mamdani over Cuomo by almost 2:1.

Hope all of the Gen Xers and younger boomers who voted for Trump are excited for their parents to move in.

Medicaid cuts are going to affect the most expensive services first, and that is long-term end of life care.

MURKOWSKI tells reporters she wants the House to send OBBB back to the Senate to continue the work. She voted for it.

"My hope is that the House is going to look at this and recognize that we're not there yet," Murkowski said

Is this MF for real? This is officially the worst excuse ever for being spineless.
