Four major automakers are racing to find workarounds to China's stranglehold on rare-earth magnets, which they fear could force them to shut down some car production within weeks.

Several traditional and electric-vehicle makers—and their suppliers—are considering shifting some auto-parts manufacturing to China to avoid looming factory shutdowns, people familiar with the situation said.

Ideas under review include producing electric motors in Chinese factories or shipping made-in-America motors to China to have magnets installed. Moving production to China as a way to get around the export controls on rare-earth magnets could work because the restrictions only cover magnets, not finished parts, the people said.

If automakers end up shifting some production to China, it would amount to a remarkable outcome from a trade war initiated by President Trump with the intention of bringing manufacturing back to the U.S.

As exports of rare-earth magnets have virtually ground to a halt, carmakers face hard decisions about whether they can continue to keep some plants operating, according to people familiar with the planning.

In May, industry groups representing most major automakers and parts suppliers told the Trump administration that vehicle production could be reduced or shut down imminently without more rare-earth components from China.

"While efforts are underway to bolster supply chains and suppliers of these elements outside of China, this will take additional time and will not alleviate the immediate shortage of elements vital for automotive components used to produce vehicles here at home," said the letter, which was signed by the heads of the Alliance for Automotive Innovation and MEMA, the Vehicle Suppliers Association.

I think we’ve reached a boiling point when it comes to ICE.

Today in Minneapolis, a militarized task force raided the beloved Lake Street taqueria, Las Cuatro Milpas—and the community was not having it.

Agents from ICE, the DEA, FBI, ATF, IRS and HHS rolled up looking like they were ready for war.

None of these groups give a fuck about the community they're apart of, they're just thugs in uniform.

Russia's Medvedev publicly confirmed today that Russia isn't interested in peace and they are not negotiating in good faith, something which Lindsey Graham saw, it would have been an incredibly stupid statement to make publicly, but I don't think Russia cares anymore because they know just how pathetic Trump is, they can now say anything they like and he still won't stand up to them.

Too Weak Trump is still refusing to sanction Russia, despite it having bipartisan support in the Senate, reportedly 80/100 signatures, but Senate Republicans won't put forth the bill because they're terrified of publicly disagreeing with their TACO King. So what we have is Senate Republicans screaming "Sanctions! Sanctions!" and Trump saying "TWO WEEKS! TWO WEEKS!" and sanctions never coming.

What we have is...

  • Scenario 1 - Sanctions never come because Senate Republicans are too terrified to override their King and publicly go against him, so they'll keep saying they want sanctions for optics but never actually put forth a bill.
  • Scenario 2 - Senate Republicans (who would need the help of Democrats), approve the bill with a two-thirds majority and thus override Trump's objection, publicly going against Trump's wishes.
  • Scenario 3 - Senate Republicans pressure Trump (either privately or publicly) to support the bill and sign it, then they finally vote on it.
  • Scenario 4 - After 4 months, multiple Putin rejections of Trump proposed ceasefires, 3 "2 week" deadlines, a broken energy ceasefire by Russia, Trump finally stands up to Russia and backs sanctions, Senate Republicans pass the bill and Trump signs it.

Just over a week to go before Trump's 3rd two week deadline is over 🫡

Too Weak Trump Strikes Again - Scenario 1!

Putin finally showed his face after going into hiding after Ukraine embarrassed them by striking high value military targets, many of which being used to bomb Ukrainian citizens, Putin went silent for days, but two hours ago gave a comment on the situation, in the same day, Trump tells Senate to not issue sanctions yet.

🇺🇸‼️ "Trump asked the Senate not to consider the bill on tightening sanctions against Russia for now," says Senate Armed Forces Committee Chairman.

1 week ago, Too Weak Trump gave Putin a 3rd two week deadline, said two week deadline should be ending 11th June, but here we have Trump once again acknowledging he couldn't get Putin to agree to an immediate ceasefire and not only that, all but approving of and giving Putin "permission" to conduct a "response" to Ukraine attacking military targets, which will almost certainly be, Russia killing more civilians.

This shit is so blatant, Lmao. Putin has Trump wrapped around his finger, pathetic.

One more week until Trump gives Putin another two weeks to accept a ceasefire.

There are reportedly "81 co-sponsors in the upper chamber" for the sanction bill.

Senator Todd Young

“I’m not waiting for anything. I think we should bring it to the floor and put the hurt on Putin, I’m not looking to anyone else for guidance on this. I’ve waited long enough,” Young added. “And it’s pretty clear to me that Putin has been jerking us around for months, and I don’t think the United States of America should tolerate that.”

Senator Joni Ernst

“We can hang on to it, or we can move now. It doesn’t mean he has to sign it into law right now, but absolutely we want to keep moving forward so that Vladimir Putin knows we are serious. That guy is stringing President Trump along. We don’t appreciate it,”

Senator Mike Rounds

Sen. Mike Rounds, R-S.D., estimated as many as 70 senators would support the bill even if Trump didn’t explicitly back it. “This is a case where nobody likes to see somebody try to play the president,” Rounds said, referring to Putin’s handling of negotiations. “And that’s one thing that Democrats and Republicans will come together on.”

Senator John Thune

Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., said this week that his chamber is ready to move on Russia sanctions whenever the White House is. Yet it also might move sooner.

  • 40 Democrats.
  • 40 Republicans.
  • 1 Independent.
  • Bipartisan Support.
  • Supermajority.
  • Enough to Override a Presidential Veto.

So fucking vote on the damn bill already, JFC. Republicans are the most spineless shits on the planet. All this big tough talk about "We're not waiting any longer!" "They're messing our President around!" but they clearly know Trump will never stand up to Putin and are terrified of going against him so all they have is useless words, complete and utter fear of ever disagreeing with their emperor, whilst watching Putin with his hand up Trump's ass playing him like a puppet, and they even acknowledge it! But frame it as "Poor Trump, he is being messed around" Lmfao.

Probably the only time there's going to be such bipartisan agreement in the Senate too, Lmao.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is calling on the Senate to eliminate a provision that would ban state regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) from President Trump’s “big, beautiful bill,” arguing it violates states’ rights.

Full transparency, I did not know about this section on pages 278-279 of the OBBB that strips states of the right to make laws or regulate AI for 10 years,” Greene wrote Tuesday in a post on the social platform X. “I am adamantly OPPOSED to this and it is a violation of state rights and I would have voted NO if I had known this was in there.”

Greene says she’ll oppose Trump’s ‘big beautiful bill’ if AI provision isn’t removed

The United States has vetoed a United Nations security council resolution calling for an “immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire” in Gaza while the 14 remaining countries on the council voted in favour. The text was co-sponsored by Algeria, Denmark, Greece, Guyana, Pakistan, Panama, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia, and Somalia. Russia, China, France and the UK also voted in favour.

The vetoed resolution also called the situation in Gaza “catastrophic”, and demanded the “immediate and unconditional lifting of all restrictions on the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza and its safe and unhindered distribution at scale, including by the UN and humanitarian partners”.

The only surprising thing here is that they didn't vote alongside Russia, I guess the simping order goes Israel > Russia.
