In a news release, the Cabinet described the pledged American tariffs, expected to take effect on April 9, as "deeply unreasonable" and "highly regrettable."
Lee said many Taiwanese information and communication companies had relocated their manufacturing from China to Taiwan due to American tariffs on goods from China in Trump's first term and the U.S. technology control policy against China over national security concerns.
According to Lee, Taiwan's government has been actively cracking down on transshipment by Taiwanese producers, a practice where goods are routed through a third country to alter their country of origin in order to benefit from lower duties imposed on that third country.
Lee also criticized the "unclear" methodology, scientific basis, and international trade theory behind the U.S.' tariff measures.
According to data from Taiwan's executive body, the U.S. ran a trade deficit with Taiwan at about US$73.9 billion in 2024, a year-on-year increase of 54.6 percent, making Taiwan the sixth largest source of trade deficits for the U.S.

Jan Mayen
This small Arctic island, possibly featuring more polar bears than people, figures among the more peculiar places on the U.S. target list. The only inhabitants on Jan Mayen, part of Norway since 1930, are staff of the Norwegian military and the Norwegian Meteorological Institute.
Tokelau
The nation made up of three tropical coral islands and home 1,500 people on a combined land area of 4 square miles (10 sq. km), is also facing 10% U.S. tariffs.
Christmas Island
The leader of Christmas Island, which has fewer that 2,000 people, said the Indian Ocean atoll exported nothing to the United States. "There's no trade between Christmas Island and America except that we do buy mining equipment through Tractors Singapore," said Christmas Island Shire President Gordon Thomson, referring to the regional dealer for the Texas manufacturing giant Caterpillar Inc.

In a rapid fire series of policy announcements from Beijing on Friday evening, including 34 percent across-the-board tariffs, three government agencies showed that China has no intention of backing down in the trade war that Mr. Trump began this week with his own steep tariffs on imports from around the world.
Trump’s Trade War Escalates as China Retaliates With 34% Tariffs - The New York Times
Oooof. We might go below 40,000 today. Down almost 3% in futures.
I don't think we'll see a catastrophic collapse on any single day but instead it will be a steady bleed to the death with notable declines on specific days, likely another notable decline today due to China's counter tariffs announced and the jobs market report, then likely another notable decline after April 5th when the tariffs are actually enforced, then likely another after April 9th for the rest of the tariffs, then likely another after EU announces their counter tariffs, etc. Some people will buy the dip but it won't be enough.

Interesting that some of the bootlickers are switching sides all of a sudden.
But I think it makes sense. The typical Republican politician is a selfish bastard who is in it for their own personal gain, so they line up behind Trump when he threatens them to torpedo their re-election. But what's happening currently in the USA is that it's becoming clearer by the day that an endorsement from Trump may be nowhere near enough to get re-elected because constituents are angry.

Trump is far more concerned about protecting criminals in foreign countries than he is with helping his own country.
Trump Demands France ‘Free Marine Le Pen’
(She isn't locked up, Lol).
He sure is obsessed with defending criminals in foreign countries, like the sex trafficking Tate brothers, or the rapist Connor McGregor, or the mass murderers Vladimir Putin and Netanyahu. While America burns he goes out golfing and crying about criminals being mistreated.
This administration can only be two things when it comes to Russia, either they're pro-Russia or they're fucking terrified of Russia, Putin gets given another few weeks on top of the already few weeks he has been given, on top of him already rejecting Trump's initial ceasefire proposal, on top of him breaking the ceasefire, on top of him then fully rejecting a ceasefire, on top of them openly mocking Trump on State TV. But don't worry guys! Trump is very frustrated with Putin! Honest! He'll do something about it! Soon! He's very mad! Lol.

Remember when we thought that Biden and Scholz are weak cowards who are pissing their pants?

Hope France gets their way in EU's response because if France gets their way then EU's response will be in the form of an economic nuke, Lol. Only way the morons running America are going to learn is through aggressive action, people are going to suffer either way and the blame will fully lay with Trump. No pussy footing around in dealing with fascist pricks.
I'd rather join forces (economically) with China at this stage to combat America's tariffs. Now that China has announced their response (RIP American Farmers), I hope EU's isn't far behind. Starmer meanwhile is sitting on the fence so much the post is nestled firmly up his ass and I don't expect any strong response from the UK at all.

Genuinely, I don't know what he is at this stage, if he's simply a coward scared of a country that could actually stand up to him or if he's such a simp for Russia that he doesn't want to hurt them or that it's simply that they're both fascists so they're aligned with each other or if it's that he's a Russian puppet but it really doesn't matter, the end result is the same.
When he won, Russian State Media straight up aired Melania's nudes over TV in a mocking way, the dude didn't respond at all, Lmao. When Putin openly laughed at keeping Trump waiting on a TV interview, Trump didn't respond at all. When Trump came to Putin and said "I want a total ceasefire" Putin said no, then whittled it down to an energy ceasefire, Trump immediately caved, then Russia immediately broke it literally the same hour the meeting ended. Then they now are saying they refuse a ceasefire at all, Trump's response is that he is frustrated with Russia, but giving them another few weeks to come round, Lmao.
Meanwhile he threatens to bomb the shit out of Iran for not signing a deal that he himself ripped up in his first term.
Alpha Male! Such a strong man! Russia is clearly terrified of him!
