Forums - Sony - PS3 games have highest review average.

my bad, change in wording, not you by you I mean't they, I kind of got carried away by the smug involved in the post.

IMO it wasn't your article, and I didn't read it to catch any opinions.

As for my statement, PS3 games can stand out vs Xbox360 sure I guess but again, one mans garbage.

Finally this raises to me another point, is is the system being related to the softwares quality on the platform, it seems pretty baseless.

It would be much more understandable to compare software to software of that genre, then saying which platform has the most of them.

If your not getting that and your thinking I'm spining, then reffer back to section 3 of what I wrote.

It doesn't really matter how many crap games are on a console, as long as you don't buy them personally, as long as you get top-end games. Right now PS3 has the least of the tip top ones, but that's clearly going to change. GTA IV will be another 90+ for both PS3 and 360. MGS4 will be a 90+ for PS3. The thing that strikes me about Wii ones is that they have some good games, but they are all first party. I still will never understand why someone can't make a first-party-like game for the Wii to capitalize on the install base. I realize shovelware can be profitable, but it seems like SOMEBODY could do it...

"tip top" is funny. The difference between the Wii's top games and the PS3's top games is that I enjoyed the PS3's more. CoD4, Oblivion, and Rock Band are all above 90% and are among the best games in their genre ever (especially Rock Band). Not only that, the Wii only has a few more 90+ games and RE4 is a PS2 port (because the GC version doesn't have all of what the PS2 version does, and the Wii version only added a control option). At #6, the 2 systems tie at 88%, but the Wii game is...Okami...another PS2 port. After that the PS3 wins at every single game in the top 20 and the games are all unique. I don't know how one can objectively, using game rankings, say that the Wii lineup is better than the PS3 right now. Obviously, subjectively it depends on what games you like, but after the first couple of Wii games (all single player except Brawl), the PS3 wins every battle. Edit: The reason they tie at the #6 spot at 88% is because the PS3 also has 89% rated Orange Box and Ratchet. So at 89%+, the Wii and PS3 have 5 games each. The average of those is higher on Wii, but the quality of games is arguable. We all have our personal tastes, but one could easily enjoy Oblivion more than TP, Ratchet more than Galaxy, Rock Band more than Brawl, Orange Box more than MP3, and CoD4 more than RE4. Having played all but TP, that's how I would choose, except perhaps Galaxy over Ratchet although it's close for me. Anyway, after the top 6, the PS3 wins at every game as far as ratings average. You don't need to include shovelware into the arguement at all.

It seems like you have an argument here, but to me you are really arguing in favor of the 360 catalog, not the PS3 catalog, because then you have some exclusive titles too. All the ones you are aguing are the multi-platform ones.   But whatever. Like Is aid earlier, the PS3 exclusive ones are coming, and then this argument would work.  Just not sure it does until you can add MGS 4 and the like into it (assuming as we are that it is a 93 and up kind of game)

Can't we all just get along and play our games in peace?

Is this unexpected? The PS3 does have the best games, therefore we must assume it will have the highest average scores.

MGS4!

Because the 360 has a huge library, some below average games are there which lower the average.

The PS3 doesn't have that many games yet which is why the average should be high.

The more games, the lower the average.

When the PS3 debuted, it didn't have the head start of the 360 or popularity of the Wii. As a result, the PS3 got a majority of the high profile 360/PC ports along with some good exclusives without as much extra baggage from shovelware games. The Wii on the other hand also has good exclusives, but lacks the PS3/360/PC ports that make up a large portion of the HD console's libraries.

Actually no, I didn't even look at the graphs, judging from the link I figured it would be another through the grape vines mistranslated statistic based on good numbers and to reemphasize my point; in a bad way.

That chart clearly needs to be broken down into categories probably by genre's.

Then it would be accurate to a degree far exceeding it's current form.

Otherwise anyone who cares to know better would need all the salt in the ocean to swallow that.

Wii would probably lose in some and win at some if it were to be broken down in that fashion.

But just saying X system has X games and Y system has Y games and to insinuate Y is better than X is a mixture of plurals and singulars that I can't seem to digest.

I always love these threads. It always lends credence to Disraeli's quote about the three types of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics. As we see every month after the NPD figures are released, you can spin numbers like a driedel, and have quite a bit of fun doing so. To those of you who think this somehow lends credence to the theory that PS3 games are therefore the best of all, consider this: last generation, the Gamecube had the highest review average, and the PS2 had the worst. Conclusion: average review scores shouldn't mean squat to you, since the only person spending your time and money on games will be you, not some disembodied aggregate on the 'net.
I've said my piece. We now return you to your regularly scheduled Console Warz already in progress.

I'd say the Wii gets hit harder in the reviews on average because of it's technology.

When you have a game on Wii and it doesn't use the Wii controls perfectly, big minus points.

You have a multiplat game for Wii, but since the graphics aren't as good they see it as an inferior game (with the exception of PES 08)

If the game has graphics that are only marginally better than the GC, they get docked.

That and pretty much the only company even attempting to do something with Wii is Nintendo themselves (and maybe Capcom to an extent). 4 out of the 5 90%+ games are made by Nintendo, with RE4 taking up the last spot.

I think most reviewers are a little biased towards the "next gen" Where pretty graphics can give a good game a better score (i'd say Gears of War was awesome and a 9/10 game, but i'm sure it's graphics brought it up to 9.4) Had Gears of War stayed exactly the same in every way but it's graphics level brought down to the Wii's capabilities, it would have never gotten out of the 8's.

If i wanted to dig deeper i could say that Wii and 360 have the same amount of exclusive 90%+ games, but that's just cherry picking. In my opinion these review averages are meaningless and show nothing of a consoles library. What should show a console being successful (sadly) is the amount of shovelware. Like PS2 Wii has tons of it, and thats not gonna change.

Actually, I was arguing just PS3 versus Wii. It's obvious the 360 has the best lineup (especially if you don't have a gaming PC). However, I did mention Ratchet at 89% that is exclusive. There are many exclusives in the top 20 that I did not mention, but I didn't need to because I was just comparing to Wii.
