BRUSSELS, May 10 (Reuters) - EU antitrust regulators are set to approve Microsoft Corp's (MSFT.O) $69 billion acquisition of Activision (ATVI.O) next week, with May 15 as the likeliest date, people familiar with the matter said.

The EU antitrust enforcer is expected to clear the acquisition after Microsoft agreed to licensing deals with cloud streaming rivals including Nvidia, Ukraine's Boosteroid and Japan's Ubitus, other people with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters in March.

Didn't we hear the same shit about the CMA passing and then it got blocked...

Second block incoming.

Slightly different. IIRC NY Post said that Microsoft was optimistic about CMA approving the deal according to sources close to Microsoft. Reuters is saying that EC will approve it according to people familiar with the matter. Depends who those people are but EC is leakier than CMA/FTC. NY Post was more based on "feelings" while Reuters seems like someone has straight up told them it will be approved.

Also Bloomberg is now reporting the same.

Not that it matters though, the deal is still dead, but it'd be nice to see at least one major regulator hasn't lost the plot and is actually basing things on facts rather than rampant speculation. UK is once again going to stand alone as the problem (because lets face it, FTC would be crushed in US Courts), Lol.

Blocked cause MS would have too much ability to foreclose rivals from vital custom themes bundles and skins. A market the EU estimated at $10M today but is forecasted to reach a whopping $12M in 20 years. Due to the lack of specific data, the EU had no choice but to assume every console player relies on bundles and skins to make their choice when purchasing a new system and subscribing to a new cloud provider.

A last-minute call from an undisclosed third party stated that custom themes using Diablo red color may boost by more than twice the performance output of a console making it hard for others to compete.

Xbox Showcase Countdown

Looks like Arkane Austin is already moving on to its next project. Not in its entirety as I'm sure the main team will fix Redfall, but a dedicated team starting work on their next game.

So another year away from Dragon Age. Probably at least 2 years from Mass Effect
