Microsoft FY 2023 Q3:

Gaming revenue declined 4% in the 3 months ending March, a bit above guidance.

This means ~ $3.59B in quarterly Xbox sales, its 2nd best Q3 ever behind last year.

Content & Services up 3%, well above estimate.

Content & Services: Decline in "low single digits."
Hardware: No estimate.

Growth in Xbox Game Pass will offset lower 1st and 3rd party monetization.

The Hardware decline is pretty bad. But they beat projections for Gaming overall and Content & Services so these results aren't as bad as expected. Surprised to see Content & Services beat expectations, another note of Game Pass growth as well.

So yeah, pleasantly surprised by this. The doom and gloom around Xbox is definitely overblown (outside of hardware)

Need to fix a lot on the first party software side and improve hardware performance but this could have been a lot worse

Annual Xbox sales are just above $15.4B right now.
