I like that idea... Put Starfield against FF 16, same day. F em.
Totally didn't secure that deluxe edition FF 16 btw. :)

It seems the show will be called a Developer_Direct, and may be part of a new initiative from Microsoft and Xbox to offer information on upcoming games more frequently, outside of the major E3 and Game Awards marketing beats.
From what we understand, the Developer_Direct show is slated for January 25 at 12PM PT on Xbox's official channels on Twitch and YouTube. The show will be hosted by both Xbox and Bethesda, with deep dives into Redfall, Minecraft Legends, Forza Motorsport, and content from ZeniMax Online Studios.
From what we understand, this won't be a full-blown E3-scale kind of show, and will be a more intimate look at some upcoming exclusives. As such, we've heard Starfield may even be skipping this show for a bigger marketing beat later on.
The Developer_Direct showcase will hopefully be the beginning of a more frequent marketing cycle for the company, as many fans have asked Microsoft to look to Nintendo's "Direct" style shows to keep the news cycle going. We expect Microsoft will make the show official as soon as this week, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Pit Starfield against Final Fantasy XVI? As cool as that would be to see two titans of RPG's go at it on opposing platforms, April is pretty barren and gives Starfield all the spotlight. |
Technically would be one week after FF16 if it is June 30 for Asteroid Day, FF16 is June 22. But I definitely think they should aim for April 12 for International Day of Human Spaceflight. Not only is April far less competitive, with the only AAA release being Dead Island 2 three weeks after April 12 (compared to 3 other AAA releases in June, Street Fighter 6, Diablo 4, and Final Fantasy 16), but obviously fans would rather play it sooner rather than later after waiting nearly 5 years for it since it's June 2018 announce.
Guess they didn't want to look like they ripped off Nintendo Direct entirely so instead of calling it Xbox Direct it's called Developer Direct, Lol.
It'd odd not to include Xbox in the branding though, the name is a bit bland as well.
Love that it's a new initiative from Xbox to offer information on upcoming games more frequently outside of major events, it's literally sounding like a clone of Nintendo Direct in almost everyway.
Why is Zenimax Online Studios there? They usually have their own event for ESO updates, hmm.
No Starfield really sucks, I'm fully convinced it is delayed to Holiday 23 now, unless this "marketing beat" is very soon after Developer Direct - Maybe they're also taking note of how Sony has some State of Play's specific to a single title so it'll be called "Developer Direct: Starfield" for example?
January 25th...Was hoping for sooner.

As long as it's still a Q2 release I guess I don't mind. They should at least release a new trailer on this January Developer_Direct with the release date imo, they can save a longer gameplay deep dive for a March Developer_Direct, one month ahead of it's April 12th release xD
Yeah it's an awful name, way too similar to Nintendo's
But idk what they could call it? anyone have ideas? I was thinking something already associated with xbox
Developer Jump in, hmmmm
No Starfield is seriously going to dampen excitement for the showcase, already people are reacting negatively to Jez's leak, Lol. He does say "may not" so who knows, I honestly wouldn't mind if Starfield takes a backseat in this showcase but it shouldn't be removed entirely. Starfield is big enough for its own "Developer Direct" and honestly should get one even if it's in this showcase.
What I would do is end the show with a new trailer for Starfield and then announce that a Starfield Direct is happening where they'll deep dive into it for like ~30 minutes and ideally it's airing within the next few weeks, that'd be absolutely fine Imo, but since Jez has leaked this we're going to go wild with speculation until Xbox speaks, Lol.
