It's not the only game on Gamepass |
I know but at this point I can't imagine many people want to get gamepass because they are adding GTA at this point. It also can't be cheap to be added for MS, I prefer that kind of money gets invested in smaller games :).

It's GTA V, millions are still buying it, millions are still playing it, on a yearly basis, it's also the first time it has been added to PC Game Pass (I bet if it came to PC Game Pass only people would complain, Lol) and I assume since it has already been on Xbox Game Pass and is now returning, they have the numbers which show that a lot of people played it through Xbox Game Pass too.
But there's a smaller game just released, it's called South of Midnight
Blue Prince is soon as well, which has rumblings of being a banger from a few journalist teases.

Almost no Gamepass game is the reason for what people get Gamepass for. The whole library is the reason.
Then you say you can't imagine people to get Gamepass for it but in the second sentence you say you want smaller games. I doubt they push Gamepass lol.
And why should GTA be so much more expensive for MS if it won't be played by more people as other games which costs the same? MS doesn't pay 10x as much if they don't expect the effect to be also bigger for Gamepass.
My theory is that MS doesn't expect many to get Gamepass for GTA but they expect many not to leave Gamepass when they have a game like GTA because when they start it, they will put a lot of time into it. So it's more of a "to hold Gamepass subscribers" move which also gives MS more money to invest in other games to get to the service.
You don't only need new subscribers, you also need to hold your actual subscribers and for them, games which take a lot of time are very good. So yes, that system is also made to let people invest more as just to buy that stupid game^^

1) Why would you say that? People get the Ubisoft subcription to play Shadows for a month or other ubisoft games in the past when they released.
Similar on gamepass. It is not rare at all to see people go 'I spend 17 bucks on gamepass for a month so I don't need to pay 79.99 to play Starfield or Call of Duty or The next Doom etc when it releases.
2) Because I can't imagine someone going to be 'hmm should I spend 17 bucks to play GTA or should I spend 9.99$ to own the game hmmm thats difficult' similar I can't imagine a sitatuion as 'Oh I am tired of gamepass and don't want to be subscribed anymore but because they add GTA I stay on it'.
I can't imagine it being cheap to put GTA and see that kind of money goes to smaller projects or other third party stuff like ports of games that are not on xbox, this is exactly what made early gamepass great, you could see money invested in porting of games like the Yakuza franchise, Persona and so many others.

1.) I've said almost no game. Yes CoD, AssCreed and games like that do that but most other games don't. Gamepass has how many games right now? Some hundred? I doubt most of them are selling Gamepass on their own. It's the collection of it.
2.) It's ok to believe that but I believe that there are always many people who just don't cancel a service because of some games they play from time to time even though it doesn't make sense from a financial standpoint. As much as many don't cancel Netflix because there's still a show they watch an episode from even though that show is like 10 years old.
People are lazy, even the smallest incentive stops them from cancelling something as if it would be a fulltime job to do so.
And I'm not sure why GTA should be so expensive. Don't you think MS also argues with Rockstar about how the game is regularly available for a few bucks and how it won't let millions of people subscribe to GP? It will be more expensive as let's say some 10 Dollar indie game with 10 hours of replay value but it will obviously also do more to Gamepass with the average player investing probably 50+ hours into it (from those who like it).
I'm just saying GTA will do more as most other games with the same price to let them hold onto their subscription and if it's just for a few more months. Most small games are done on a weekend.
And it obviously also sounds better for such a service. If I tell someone around me that Gamepass has GTA and CoD it sound better for the average person who might not be too big into the gaming world as saying it has Brotato, Carrion and CoD
Huh, South of Midnight has an accessibility option to skip arena fights entirely, also can skip chase sequences and boss fights, I can't see myself using that option but it's cool to know it has something like that if the fights do get a bit repetitive.
