I wonder if I should still play the original Oblivion or just play the remaster if its just a remaster and not a remake.

I mean, even if it's just a remaster, what's the point in playing the original Oblivion? It'll be exactly the same but with worst graphics, Lol. Unless price is a concern then sure, I suppose we'll have to wait and see what upgrades they have planned though, it's just my personal opinion that I'm not expecting much more than a graphical upgrade and some QoL features.

Oh and Creation Club on Xbox.

I recently played Oblivion for the first time. I wanted to try it on 360 when it launched but didn't have a 360 then. Even tho I got one in 2012 for whatever reason just ever played it until I had a free month of Gamepass. It's more of an RPG than Skyrim so that's a plus but less of one than Morrowind. The faces are nightmare fuel. I felt like some fun could be had but it also in some ways a game of it's time that didn't age well. Seems you either have to love this game or ES in general to really go back to it. To me it just feels old, stiff and clunky.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

If I was a PlayStation only gamer who hasn't yet played these, I would look at April, with Oblivion Remaster, Forza Horizon 5, Indiana Jones, all in the same month and think "What the fuck. I don't have the time" Lol. All these games have dozens of hours of content too. But then if Oblivion Remaster tries to avoid Indiana Jones or Forza Horizon 5 on PS5's side, it will maybe run into South of Midnight on Xbox's side, the only comfort is South of Midnight will likely be a ~10 hour-ish game so it can be finished quickly.

Microsoft will be rolling in money in April either way.

Since Indiana Jones is Bethesda's release, I assume that will definitely be avoided, so I suppose it'll either be early April or late April.

Yeah I'll just play the remaster if its basically the same game but with better visuals and performance.

Wonder if there's a discount for existing owners if not a free upgrade on Steam.

Another series I need to get into....I typically like playing from the first game but I might just try out Oblivion (or Morrowind) first.

Morrowind is very different to Oblivion, a lot more hardcore RPG IIRC.

Oblivion is my favourite but I only played Morrowind for a few hours, I just couldn't get into it at the time, Oblivion is the start of the casualisation but Skyrim takes it a step further, anyway, the combat is pretty meh but the sim aspects, the world, the lore, the side quests, the overall atmosphere, the music, etc. Are all awesome, I love the world and lore of ES.

I'm so much into lore in games.

I got all the games so gonna eventually play them all.

The Oblivion remake is reportedly "fully remade" with Unreal Engine 5, with six reworked gameplay systems: stamina, sneaking, blocking, archery, hit reaction and HUD. Improvements to the game's blocking system have reportedly been inspired by Souls-like games, while sneak icons are now highlighted in the new system, according to MP1ST.

===

Problem is the main issues is the combat overall, after playing Avowed too, it's going to be pretty brutal going back to Oblivion's dopey sword combat, Lmao. Maybe the hit reaction helps it feel more meaty though. Will have to wait and see. The other issue is the levelling system which doesn't seem to be getting any changes.

If I can't do this in the remaster then it sucks and Unreal Engine sucks, 0/10.

Rage-bait YouTubers about to have a field day with Oblivion's character creator.

I do hope the Oblivion remaster is not going to follow in the footsteps of Indy/Doom and be an RT only-based game. Me & my partner would like to be able to play the remaster on our current hardware specs.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
