18 hours in and I've entered the 2nd area after doing most things in the 1st, all checkmarks on the maps list at least. Another minor complaint though, the map has the usual "fog" that videogame maps have but there's no way to clear it all unless you travel to every part of the world on foot, I mean I'm not asking for Ubisoft towers but could add a way to clear the map that doesn't involve travelling to each part of the map, some is even inaccessible, it just bothers me because it looks untidy

Are you playing on quality, balanced or performance?

Keen to jump in.

Balanced, I have a VRR TV as well, I've not really noticed any framerate drops and it looks great.

13 hour update in Avowed.

I'm still in the first area, Lol. I'm absolutely loving it, one of those games where I woke up and wanted to get back right into it, I mentioned already it's a beautiful game, I'm really impressed with how nice it looks, I have two companions now and I like them both, I absolutely love the rewarding exploration, the verticality, not just searching in straight lines but having to climb everywhere, the dialogue is interesting and well written, I can't comment much on the main story yet because I'm barely into it.

But once again, the combat, man, it is without a doubt the best 1st person melee combat in a RPG, I'm having so much fun with utilising multiple playstyles but right now I've settled on a flaming sword in one hand and an electric pistol in the other like I'm a pirate, with a wand/grimoire as my backup loadout. I think unless the game drops off hard in the 2nd half I will end up agreeing a lot more with people like  Jason Schreier, Parris Lilly, Gerstman, etc. It does feel a bit old-school RPG but with a modern coat of paint and I love it. Don't give a single fuck that it doesn't "revolutionise" the genre, I just want great games and this is that so far.

I am not sure where these unbalanced difficulty complaints are coming from either, I mean, I have died once or twice on normal mode, and battles can be a challenge, they do require a bit more thought than just charging in and slash slash slash but it's not unfair, it's challenging at times but in a good way, I've not struggled too much anywhere thus far and I've been picking battles with enemies double my level in some occasions, Lmao. Were people just charging straight to the 2nd zone? I've even considered how hard the higher difficulty actually is because normal is pretty fair.

I am playing at Path of Damned difficulty, and it is quite challenging at first for sure :)
I'm 15 hours or so in, still in the first area. And like you I adore the game... It is so good.

Exploration is amazing; there are so much stuff hidden. And at higher difficulties (at least the hardest one); you absolutely cannot take on higher level groups without using the crafting/upgrade system properly or your companion ability.

Still having the blue guy from the start :) Did not get a second companion yet so I'm curious about it.

Playing at max on my PC and Performance on Series X (the game is still gorgeous so I prefer framerate to quality)

Wish I had Yatzli now, I wanted Yatzli and Kai as my main team from the start. Marius being moody might start grating on me soon, Lol.

It's really tempting to main magic in this, I'm usually a sword man in things like Elder Scrolls but the way spells are cast in Avowed is just too cool, I feel like an actual powerful wizard, even with them being interruptible by attacks, the whole hand movements and everything are so cool, Lol. But I'm mainly using my fire sword/electric pistol still with a slow down time ability.

I'm using the Time Pirate build in here.

In my experience so far, lockpicks are a bit rare to come by naturally, so I suggest buying lockpicks whenever you can from vendors, I've encountered one or two chests I had to abandon because I didn't have any lockpicks. On normal I have a lot of money still, I haven't bought anything except potions and even then I probably don't need to because I've never gone below 10, all my armour and weapons came from loot, I'm just missing a unique chest piece then I'll have everything unique (aside from my 2nd loadout of wand/grimoire).

I'm stashing any unique stuff in my storage, I can't bring myself to scrap or sell any of that, Lol.

Also I feel like the weight limit is pretty generous, I've only encountered encumbrance twice, I scrap most of the common shit now anyway and you can store unique stuff to your camp from wherever you are, don't need to go back to the camp, speaking of the camp, I love the cosiness of it, companions chilling there and chatting to each other.

Game Pass lost 15 games this month and so far we've gotten 4 new additions, hopefully the 2nd wave is somewhat decent.

I need to finish Avowed, Immortals Fenyx Rising (only have the final boss left and a few achievements but Avowed completely distracted me) and Gris (because it's leaving in 2 weeks), I don't think I'll be able to play Yakuza on launch this time around, Lol. Going to be busy for the rest of the month and into next month, March is kind of empty for me so far aside from Atomfall.

I think we'll see a few nice indie surprises for March and/or late February, what with the upcoming ID@Xbox showcase.
