Indeed, Microsoft has won some strong support from the region lately from studios like Square Enix for Final Fantasy, HoYoverse for Genshin Impact, and Sega/ATLUS for Persona, and we suspect this new game will help further that trend.

Does this sort of imply it's something more surprising though? These titles returned to Xbox after years of absence, so probably not Resident Evil, due to the fact that it would be expected to launch on Xbox I'm not sure it "furthers that trend" but then again, Persona 6 is also expected to launch on Xbox now so is that "furthering that trend" or just business as usual? Hmm.

Scalebound Resurrection

Would be cool if its a remake of Shin Megami Tensei 1 or Persona 1.

Both badly need it.

Doesn't sound like the secret 4th title is 1st party then, so no Double Fine!

But like I said, Square_Enix is also 11 long and with how chummy Xbox and Square are lately, it would be no surprise if Square shows up again, maybe they reveal the new title and also announce ports of Final Fantasy series to Xbox? What decades old legendary Japanese IP is in need of a sequel lately? That hasn't had one for a few years? Dragon Quest? Resident Evil?

Final Fantasy XVI and VII Remake Intergrade for sure has a chance of being announced.

A series that needs a sequel or remake is Chrono series (Square Enix) and Breath of Fire (Capcom).

Funny enough, FF7 Rebirth releases on PC on the 23rd! Wonder if there will be an Xbox shadow drop.

Honnestly I hope it is that :) I really loved the game and having this on Xbox would be sick, would probably play it all over again.

And the 7 remake is really better than 16 imo.

So let me get this right

  • Legendary Japanese IP
  • decades of history
  • new game, does this just mean new to xbox or a reveal is the real question

My guesses

FF7R

FF16

FF9R

Kingdom Hearts 4 (IP is more than 2 decades old, kinda a stretch but...)

I personally think it'll be Dragon Quest 12. It took DQ11 several years to come to Xbox, so having a new mainline entry day one on Xbox would be pretty big. It's going to have been 4 years in May since DQ12 was officially announced and there were rumors that SE were aiming for an early 2025 release window.

I think they'll spread out the release to be honest.

It seems to be the trend for them (i.e. Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters and Kingdom Hearts collections getting a release a year or two apart from each version).

They seriously need to stop that and just release everything on all the platforms that can run the game (mobile included).

Hopefully both Remake and Rebirth gets released. Still funny that Crisis Core Reunion is already on all platforms and it plays a role as in the in between game to play between Remake and Rebirth.

FF9R would be amazing.

There's also the possibility of the remaster/remake of Final Fantasy Tactics that has been rumored for the past two years.

Almost forgot about DQ12. Damn, its been so long since they announced it. Good one.

He says new entry so I'm 99% sure he doesn't mean "new to Xbox" but I question if a "remake" counts as a new entry, in which case, could it be FF9 Remake? Nate 100% confirmed FF16 and FF7R are coming to Xbox but question is if this is the event they announce them at, if it is then I could see whatever this Japanese title being is from Square Enix and they attach these FF ports to it.
