I'm surprised Sega wasn't an acquisition immediately after the Dreamcast got discontinued. The original Xbox got a lot of support from Sega, and would have made sense.

Will forever be one of, if not the, biggest missed opportunities for Xbox. Sega even wanted the original Xbox to be fully backwards compatible with Dreamcast, and Xbox execs said no.....

Sega and Xbox had a fantastic partnership in those days, had like 15 exclusives, but man what could've been.
