While I really enjoyed the first game, I thought that the battle system relied too much on the break mechanic. All enemies are bullet sponges unless you break them, so every battle becomes formulaic and repetitive. That became stale after a while for me. I like the mechanic in general, but I believed that it should rather be a bonus to break enemies weaknesses instead of a requirement.

I'm still going to enjoy this second game, anyway.
