Forums - Gaming - Silent Hill Homecoming Set For September

I had the same reaction about an American team making SH5, but I'm trying REALLY hard to keep an open mind.

You are 100% correct about american vs japanese horror, alot of the new horror movies coming out here are all re-hashes of Japanese movies, and they don't hold a candle to them.

One Missed Call is a good example, the japanese version was pretty well done, with the new American one being... meh.

Anyhow, I'm trying to keep an open mind. :)

We'll miss you George.

I like Silent Hill, I like The Collective. Sounds good to me.

Seriously, The Collective gets a bad rap from some but DaVinci Code aside they have done some awesome stuff:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Xbox) Probably the best brawler/platformer I have played to date. Awesome environmental kills, neat inventory mixing system, great combat, great difficulty.

Indiana Jones - Like Buffy with a whip and guns... but without being able to throw enemies 30 feet, but a grittier fight style that Dr. Jones should have. Best Indy game I've played. Love that you need to pick up your hat whenever it gets knocked off.

Star Wars Episode 3 - My least favorite of the three but very solid. Great combat.

They do combat systems really good, as well as giving a good feeling of the characters and story. I think Silent Hill 5 will be just fine. Obviously Konami trusted them enough to hand it over. And as cool as Silent Hill has always been, combat was never that good, maybe this will be an improvement.

I'll admit that the Silent Hill series has been going downhill, and I'm not fond of the American team working on the next game. It's a rental for now; hope its as scary and good as the 2nd or 3rd one.

Off-topic: @Ecurbj & @Mirson :Damn,both of you got awesome avatars O_O ,it's so obvious that I'm a FFVII fan too? :P

I got high expectations for this game, the best of the series was Silent Hill 2 for me,the whole oppressive feeling surrounding Maria's(thats was her name, right?) dead, damn, that game make me feel so bad when I discover the truth...

Let's give this folks the benefit of the doubt, but with a grain of salt like you say it.

I thought the fourth one was pretty good, but a lot of people didn't. I know it wasn't originally a Silent Hill game.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I still own and play all of the Silent Hill games, and I love every one of them games.

I have not beat Origins yet so...SHHHH...LOL

The only thing that is I ask is for this series to advance like RE4 did for the Resident Evil Series.

Nobody else finds it a bit ominous that they won't call it Silent Hill 5? It's as if they're reducing it to mere "spin-off" status.

Finding out that the Collective is behind the game = Troublesome
5 being removed from the title = Forboding

I'm a HUGE Silent Hill fan, and have been since I saw a friend of mine playing Silent Hill for PSX. That being said, I was dissapointed with Origins.

I'm kind of saddened by the fact this that game isn't being made by Team Silent, not to say an American team couldn't do the series justice, but I don't think it will have the same feeling and atmosphere as the other ones.

This will be a gamefly rental.

This is the one time you will see me admit that Americans suck at developing games.

Personally, I think Konami sucks at choosing developers and the fact that they couldn't even choose a decent developer who knows how much they suck only makes Capcom laugh. Everything Konami does in 3D sucks except the original SH.

PS. That goes for everything, especially Kojima.
