In the US, the rental model for physical games was popular for a good while, but I think it was eventually replaced by the buy/sell/trade model of places like Gamestop. Buy/sell/trade is what customers prefer, however there are a lot of people in the game in the game industry that hate this model and are trying their best to sabotage it. This is why we hear the common refrain of the "inevitable, all-digital future". It is actually more about what the industry wants rather than true inevitability.

That's Gamepass.

No.

I had the chance to buy Jedi Fallen Order for 25 bucks or having EA Play with Fallen Order in it for 25 bucks. I got EA Play, barely played Fallen Order, and the other games weren't interesting, and now I can't even play Fallen Order anymore without paying 25 bucks again.

Worst decision ever

This reads more like an argument against suscription services than rentals per se. Also, it is the main reason why I don't like game suscription services.

Oh you're right, I misunderstood the thread/the point of the thread.

But yeah, same opinion (pretty much)

Eh.. I just buy games I want to play at launch and resell them a couple of weeks later. To local game resellers or Ebay, to recoup costs. You eat up maybe $10 sometimes more sometimes less. No need to for arbitrary rental times and restrictions.

That's what I've been doing for years. I keep the games that are worth my time and have some sort of replay value.
