Explosions are reported in Russian occupied Tokmak, Zaporizhzia region.

1/ A tragic situation is unfolding as the dam destruction by russians has left many residents of Oleshky and other riverside areas trapped in floodwaters. Urgent pleas for help from hundreds of people in a Telegram channel shows the dire need for immediate evacuations. pic.twitter.com/6m1h7Phcdk

3/ I was able to obtain recent imagery of Oleshky, which confirms that large portions of residential areas have submerged under the water by 11:25 AM local time pic.twitter.com/mARlMWqP3I

A few thoughts on the dam’s destruction and its implications for Ukraine’s offensive. In brief, I doubt it will have a significant impact on UA mil operations. The Khakovka dam is at least 100 miles from where much of the activity might take place at its closest point.
— Michael Kofman (@KofmanMichael) June 7, 2023
Destroying the dam does not substantially shorten Russian lines, or make defense much easier, although it does make a UA cross-river operation exceedingly difficult in that area. But, the flood will likely also destroy the initial line of Russian entrenchments along the river.

This is an ecological and humanitarian catastrophe, with long term economic implications for the region, for which Russia is responsible, but I’m skeptical that Ukraine’s military prospects in the short term will be negatively affected in a meaningful way.

So I’m sitting at home and bawling my eyes out reading this rescue Telegram chat from the Russian-occupied Oleshky. People are literally begging to save them, some of them have been sitting on rooftops for two days now, no food or water.

A lot of them elderly, many children. pic.twitter.com/6lPIZSI7w9
Many are disabled and can’t go anywhere, some are too young or too old.

A lot of them will drown in the next hours. Some of them will be shot by the Russians. pic.twitter.com/llqstsF5ey
We don’t leave our people behind.

We don’t leave others behind either – Ukraine sent rescue missions to Turkey after the earthquakes, Afghanistan in 2021, in 2019 our government offered to send 200 firefighters to Australia to help fight the fires. pic.twitter.com/PUhe8n444g
We don’t ask you to come here and fight this battle for us.

Today you just have to keep standing united more than ever. Not parrot propaganda points, not spread speculations and lies.
You know who we are, we’ve shown you multiple times before. Nothing changed.
The Ukrainian military will never leave civilians behind.#Kakhovka #Kherson #Oleshky

Roman Holovnia, director of the charity I Am Kherson, told me his org’s hotline is ringing nonstop with cries for help from locals on the Russia-occupied side. “People are stranded on rooftops and in trees, hiding from the flood water. Russian occupiers took all of their boats.” https://t.co/tIJpYvzAqP

Zelensky said he was shocked by the reaction of the UN and the Red Cross to the destruction of the dam of the Kakhovka HPP.

Major international organizations, he said, either did not respond to the request for help, or it was in fact a refusal “in diplomatic language”.
“What is…
So many people will have nobody to save them, because the Russian "liberators" don't give a shit about anyone and the Ukrainians can't save their own because of the fascist orcs illegally occupying their lands.
KiigelHeart said: Peskov said the destruction of the dam was intended to deprive Russian-controlled Crimea of the fresh water it receives from the reservoir via the North Crimean Canal, and to distract attention from the counter-offensive. "Apparently, this sabotage is also connected with the fact that, having started large-scale offensive actions two days ago, now the Ukrainian armed forces are not achieving their goals - these offensive actions are faltering." Quoted from Reuters. Pretty much translates to "We blew up the dam to distract attention from the fact our forces haven't been achieving any of our goals and our defense is already in deep trouble despite Ukraine's counter-offensive hasn't even begun yet. We'll soon lose Crimea so we wanted to deprive it from fresh water and make sure it'll take years from Ukraine to recover." Who believes anything these fuckers say? I don't think it would even be possible for Ukraine to plant tons of explosives there, dam was controlled by Russia. This calls for strong response from the West, enough of this 'let's not escalate' shit. Russia has done nothing but escalate and they won't stop. Mariupol, Bucha, kidnapping children, torture and now this genoicidal disaster. This is worse than tactical nuke ffs |
It definitely is a natural weapon of mass destruction and calls for a much stronger response.
Need to stop putting limits on what weapons we can send to Ukraine for fear of escalation, Russia has shown us repeatedly that they're cowards and wouldn't dare to attack someone who is actually on equal footing with them (I.E. Someone with nukes).
So sad for the Damm destruction in the Dnipro River with terrible consequences. But so hopeful as our amazing @Ukraine team @WCKitchen began cooking increasing the meal output in hours to help the people affected by the water damage in many communities…#ChefsForUkraine pic.twitter.com/HFAKfPKZ2L

It's an old russian loss which someone edited.

Why I always wait before posting any claimed Russian hits.
For fuck sake man, they're using their own losses as evidence of Ukrainian losses, Lol.
And obviously Leopard 2's and other vehicles will be lost during the offensive but Russia can't even wait to get a legit one, desperate for a win.
Insane that the reservoir was visible even on maps of the entire continent and it's now just gone.
It would also be such a dumb move by the Russians (sabotaging their own water supply!) that it almost makes me believe it was structural failure.
