The Reality of the War in Ukraine and the Hypocrisy of the West!
In recent days, there has been a lot of talk about the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Zelensky at the White House. While some insist on turning Zelensky into a hero and Trump into a “insensitive villain,” the truth is quite different. What happened there was not a humiliation for Ukraine, but a moment of brutal realism: the war is already lost, and continuing to fund it only prolongs the needless suffering of the Ukrainian people.
This conflict isn't just a struggle between "good and evil," as Western propaganda tries to make it seem. The war didn’t start in 2022 – it was fabricated over years, with direct involvement from the US, NATO and the corrupt Ukrainian elite itself. Lets get to the facts.
1. How did this war start?
Many pretend that the war began with the "Russian invasion" in February 2022, but ignore the events that led to it:
2014 coup d'état - Viktor Yanukovych's democratically elected government has been overthrown in a coup orchestrated by the US and the European Union. The new regime, hostile to Russia, has begun aggressive policies against the Russian-speaking population in Donbass, leading to an internal civil war long before 2022.
Minsk Agreements I and II - These agreements were signed to bring peace between the Ukrainian government and the Donbass separatists. However, Kiev never fulfilled the terms and, instead of negotiating, continued the attacks and refused to grant autonomy to the region, as agreed.
NATO expansion and direct provocation to Russia - After the fall of the Soviet Union, the US promised that NATO would not expand to the east. However, that promise has been repeatedly broken, with the organization expanding to the Russian border. The attempt to integrate Ukraine was seen by Moscow as an existential threat, something that any military power in the world – including the U.S. – would never accept in their backyard.
The Western military escalation in Ukraine - For years, NATO has supplied arms to Ukraine, trained its forces and prepared the country for a direct confrontation with Russia. This wasn't a spontaneous conflict, but a meticulously crafted plan.
2. The role of Zelensky: the leader of "democracy" or a dictator in disguise?
Western press insists on painting Zelensky as a symbol of resistance and freedom, but conveniently ignores his actions within Ukraine itself:
Baniu opposition parties - Since 2022, parties considered “pro-Russian” have been outlawed, even though they are part of the Ukrainian democratic system.
Censored independent media - Newspapers and TV channels that questioned the official narrative were closed, leaving only state propaganda.
Postponed the elections indefinitely - To stay in power, Zelensky cancelled the presidential elections, preventing Ukrainians themselves to decide the future of the country.
Arrested and persecuted civilians and religious - Orthodox fathers and political opponents were arrested, in a clear sign of repression.
Zelensky rules like a dictator under the guise of war – and ironically, the West calls it democracy.
3. Who really profits from this war?
While Ukraine is devastated, there is one group that is benefiting immensely from this conflict: the US military-industrial complex and the Ukrainian oligarchs.
The US has sent hundreds of billions to Ukraine without any real audit. Many of those funds never reached Ukrainian forces – they were diverted by internal corruption and dark contracts.
Companies like Lockheed Martin and Raytheon made record profits from arms sales. For them, the longer the war, the better.
The Ukrainian corrupt elite - While ordinary Ukrainians die on the battlefield, politicians and businessmen linked to the government become millionaires with Western funds.
4. Why is Trump right to refuse more funding for war?
Trump didn't "humiliate" Zelensky - he just said the obvious: the US cannot continue to fund an endless conflict with no possibility of victory.
Ukraine has already lost militarily - Its forces are worn out, recruitment capacity has dropped drastically and Russia maintains control of strategic territories.
The U.S. has internal priorities - While billions are sent to Ukraine, American citizens themselves face an economic and social crisis.
NATO allies are beginning to retreat - Countries like Poland have already shown hesitation to continue supporting the war, because they realized that there is no winning way out for Ukraine.
Conclusion: the war is over, we just need to admit it.
The facts are clear: Ukraine has lost, and extending this war only causes more suffering. What Zelensky really fears isn't Russia – it's losing power when Ukrainians can finally vote.
And for those who insist on defending this war, the question is: how many more lives will have to be sacrificed to maintain this illusion?

Russia has hit out at Sir Keir Starmer’s plan for British troops to form part of a peacekeeping force in Ukraine, saying it would amount to direct involvement in the war. But Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov said troops on its border would amount to the “direct, official and unveiled involvement of Nato members in the war against Russia”, adding: “It can’t be allowed.”

Glen Grant, a retired British Army lieutenant colonel, has recently been to Kyiv.

He tells BBC Breakfast he sees no chance of a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia any time soon.

"People need to be clear - what the US is trying to do is get Ukraine to capitulate," he says. "To give in to Russia – there is nothing nice about this at all.

"The reason for that is quite simple. Trump is unable to – or perhaps unwilling to – do anything against Russia, but he senses Ukraine is a weak link in the game, so they are going to try and bully Zelensky – even try again to get him to step down and put in a more compliant president, in the same way as Hungary, Slovakia and Bulgaria.

"But I just don't see Zelensky will do that," Grant says.

US Is Trying To Capitulate To Ukraine - Retired Lieutenant Colonel Tells BBC

American volunteer soldiers fighting in Ukraine say that they feel “betrayed” by their own country after the U.S. halted military aid and stopped sharing intelligence with Kyiv in early March. “(U.S. President Donald Trump) betrayed every one of us,” a U.S. Army veteran, who goes by the callsign Goldfish, told the Kyiv Independent.

The American soldiers who spoke to the Kyiv Independent said they were “horrified” by their country’s recent decisions and the ensuing consequences on the ground in Ukraine. “Never have I ever thought that I would be listening to any U.S. public figure — let alone the president — openly declare support for an aggressor,” Goldfish, a 33-year-old Alaskan currently serving with the 25th Airborne Brigade, said.

“If we stand here now on the side of the oppressor, literally telling Ukraine, either submit or cease to exist, that's not peace – that’s subjugation.”

Understanding the significance of U.S. military aid and the immense sacrifice that Ukraine has already made to defend its country, some American fighters hoped that Trump wouldn’t abandon Ukraine like that, soldier Levi Perez, 36, said. “Deep down in our very souls, we knew it was coming,” Perez, an Alaskan who goes by his callsign Joker, told the Kyiv Independent.

"Our reputation for the foreseeable future is pretty much gone,” he said, noting that other Western countries are losing trust in the U.S. and may turn away from further political and economic ties. “We are beyond the point of control (where we can avoid World War III) because Russia is not going to retreat completely, they won't give back the stolen territory, and Ukraine won't let them keep the territory,” Perez said, referring to the roughly 20% of the Ukrainian land that Russia occupies.

A former police officer from a southern city in the U.S. currently serving in the Ukrainian military says that he’s most worried about the bans’ potential cost especially on the civilian lives. “The civilians are going to suffer exponentially, almost more, because now with the lack of intelligence, we don't have as much information about rocket and drone strikes coming from Russian territory,” the police officer-turned-soldier, who spoke on the condition of anonymity due to his unit’s protocols, told the Kyiv Independent.

The most terrifying part is seeing how the U.S.’ next steps will impact Ukraine and its people, because “Ukrainian people are incredible,” according to a fellow American soldier, who goes by the callsign Gimli. “The nightmare that keeps me up the most is whether my country will ever recover,” Gimli, a 33-year-old former U.S. army serviceman from Washington, told the Kyiv Independent. “Or if Trump and the Kremlin have completely crippled the future of my country.”

Gimli and other American soldiers said they had a completely different vision of their country — a democratic nation they believed had always tried to do the right thing despite setbacks and to help the world as “defenders of freedom.” Now, they say they feel humiliated.

“I accepted the fact that I just may not have a country to go back to because I’m not going to go back and live under a fascist regime,” he said, adding that he hopes that “the Ukrainians can forgive my people someday.” The American soldiers interviewed said their hopes were now hanging on Europe to step up its support for Ukraine in what could be its darkest months to come.

The US president’s actions are “a wake-up call for us to unite and design our own centre of gravity”, Fidan told the Financial Times, adding that Turkey would want to be part of any new European security architecture if Nato unravels. “The genie is out of the bottle and there is no way to put it back,” he said of European security. “Even if President Trump decides not to withdraw from Europe at this time, it is possible that in the future someone with similar views and political ideas might consider reducing America’s contributions to European security.”

Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan Says in Rare Interview That Ankara Would Join Post-NATO European Security Pact

America handing win after win to China and now Türkiye wants a bit of that, Lol. I'm not particularly thrilled about Türkiye worming their way into influence but what other choice does Europe have, Türkiye has the 2nd largest manpower in NATO. The only plus is Türkiye tends to fuck over Russia but Türkiye under Erdogan has a whole host of issues of its own both domestically and internationally, they aren't really a country I can trust under Erdogan. Better hope we don't look the other way at Erdogan's other shit.

Pretend is the right word.

How much does the US import in Russian goods?

Trump has threatened Russia with tariffs, but Russian exports to the US have significantly decreased in recent years due to Western sanctions imposed in response to the invasion of Ukraine.

According to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, the US imported $3bn in goods from Russia in 2024. By comparison, imports from Canada totalled $412.7bn.

In 2021, the year before Russia launched its invasion, the US bought $29.7bn in Russian exports, government data shows.

Russia exported 192 billion in goods in 2024.

Trump says ‘more difficult’ to deal with Ukraine than Russia

The US president has renewed his criticism of Kyiv’s approach to his diplomatic push to end the war, saying that it has been “easier” to deal with Moscow. “I’m finding it more difficult, frankly, to deal with Ukraine, and they don’t have the cards,” he said in the Oval Office.

Trump has been stressing for weeks that Ukraine’s position in the conflict is weak and dependent on US support. The US president underscored his earlier statement threatening Russia with sanctions and tariffs for bombing Ukraine, saying that he is “trying to help” Kyiv.

“Ukraine has to get on the ball and get a job done,” he told reporters.
