Well, by not incorporating VAT in the purchase price and then comparing it to a retail price including VAT you get a lot bigger gain for the retailer Faxanadu. I think the € 10 Just_Ben mentioned earlier in this thread will be pretty close to the profit for of the retailer.

yeas I realized. I think they will have about 10-15 € of margin, since like I said the big retailers will get additional cuts.

This leaves the 25 Euros which have to be divided between publisher, developer and logistics. No idea how that splits up though.

Anyone knows whether publishers and developers have a fixed price contract or a variable contract?

Don't forget Mario Kart is a first party title, third party titles usually sell for €60. The largest part will go into paying Nintendo its licensing fee, but I don't think it will be as high as the complete difference. Also console manufacturers might be willing to lower those fees when big titles are involved. Under normal circumstances the publisher probably gets around €30, maybe subtract around €5 for the disk, packaging and logistics. That leaves around €25 for the publisher and developer combined. I don't think there is a standard way to split the amount between the 2 and it will completely depend on the agreement between the publisher and developer.
