Will be interesting to see how Rise performs compared to World on PC, would assume Rise will sell less.

Monster Hunter World sales were actually leaked in the major Capcom hack at the end of 2020.

PS4 - 8.90m
PC - 5.95m
Xbox - 1.79m

Assuming similar splits (which is most likely accurate), PS4 should be at 9.25M now.

MHW reaching 18.7M results in PS4 being 10M, which should happen.

Since Iceborne requires World,

PS4 had 61% of Iceborne sales, LTD is at 8.2M -> 5M on PS4/5

Total MHW sales on PS4/5 = 14.25M

Holy crap 10m on PlayStation alone would be incredible. There was a thread and many predicted under 3m lifetime. Seems like monster hunter is more popular on PlayStation than it is on Nintendo. Imagine if world was ps4 console exclusive, it wouldve sold more

Yup, goes to show how big the market is for Japanese games on Playstation. Makes sense, MH started of as a Playstation franchise, its best selling SKU in JP is on the PSP and outside is the PS4.

I reckon Sony will do some deal for MHW2.

7.5m now

At this point it'll hit 8-9m on NS alone and might reach that mark before Sunbreak arrives, with PC Rise could potentially hit 13-14m tbh.

Steady as she goes eh. Looks like most of the pollsters were correct.

Looking like it will indeed sail passed the ten million mark, which is a strong result all things considered. The PS4 + Xbone userbase is a lot bigger than just the Switch, and 7.5 million in 6 months would be great sales for a third party exclusive on any system.

PS4 version shipped 8.7 million as of the leak's date, not 8.9. And we can't assume similar splits because Japan (which is now a non-factor for legs) skewed the data, and the game released several months later on PC (meaning PC version is noticeably outpacing the PS4 version). I think PS4 version will settle at 9.25~ million lifetime. PS5 is the hot new console, and MHW is available on it for free as part of PS+ Collection. MHW on consoles is outdated and probably getting pummeled by PC version which somewhat scales with specs. There's a reason Capcom openly talks about transitioning to PC as their primary platform over even Playstation and Switch.

Other information to take into account is MHR Switch will have its legs cut by the PC version a bit late compared to MHW PS4, their exclusivity period will coincide the holiday season. But on the other hand, Iceborne PS4/X1 was timed exclusive whereas Sunbreak will have a simultaneous release on Switch and PC. As a result, Sunbreak on Switch might sell a lot less than Iceborne PS4, or not. It depends on its reception from the PC community who may be underwhelmed by its design and graphics (It has lower minimum requirements than MHW, a 2018 video game). It also depends on Japan's reception, there's always potential for an explosion in software sales due to Switch's popularity and install base, even if it didn't really happen yet with Rise.

Even ignoring Japan, the Playstation SKU outsells the PC SKU

The problem with Rise is short compared with another MH; and a lazy job for Capcom, launching a game with a half story, neither World have this problem. The longevity of World is much better in the launch.

Not really World was short at launch as well it even lacked certain rank missions until later on meaning it had more of a content problem than Rise.

Not so short than Rise.

World has a 100 hours medium in launch, Rise has 60-70 hours.

It was I played World to the end at launch Rise is a bit more fluid as it not only does it not have the long loading times between areas and it's much clearer in what you should be doing so you're wondering around less and it's quicker to get around. Rise's story wasn't finished but had more monsters at 61 while World's story did finish but wasn't that long and only had 48 monsters.

The mechanics are far better than World, the pace is better too. But I have a feeling it´s less content, story-oriented.
