Tencent, the distributor of Nintendo Switch products in Mainland China, has won two court cases in Guangdong and Jiangsu province to stop the production and sale of hardware modified Switch consoles that allow access to pirated games

Tencent is tightening the control over the sale of modified Switches in mainland China, you can still import and resell but Chinese courts have basically stopped the selling of modified Switches.

The official figures released by Tencent suggest Nintendo has surpassed Microsoft Corp and Sony Corp as the country’s biggest console device seller, according to consultancy Niko Partners.

Tencent has shipped 1 million units of the Nintendo Switch (China ver.) in Mainland China as of the end of 2020.

The console officially launched in China on Dec 10, 2019. Good news for Nintendo.

13 titles were introduced in China in 2020, Tencent will speed up in introducing more in 2021.
