Japanese Square Enix games missing Xbox is nothing new.

Trials of Mana, Oninaki, Chocobo's Mystery Dungeon, Dragon Quest Builders 1/2, Secret of Mana, Dragon Quest Heroes 1/2...

They almost missed out on Dragon Quest XI, which thanks to the definitive re-release they're getting on Xbox for the first time in a few days.

I know, but it'still weird.

I mean, there's almost nothing to to do anymore if you have a PC version ready. That's just leaving money at the table, it doesn't make much sense economically speaking.

Yeah quite common for Japanese developers and I don't understand it either. Why is Persona 5 PlayStation Exclusive? Why is SMT V Switch Exclusive? Why is Monter Hunter Rise Switch Exclusive?

Japanese developers have a tendency to make console exclusive games where seemingly no moneyhat is involved. It definitley is a weird one.

In the case of SMTV and MHR I am pretty sure that Nintendo did, in fact, make deals with Sega and Capcom for SMTV and Monster Hunter Rise, and most likely Sony made a deal with Sega to keep P5 exclusive to PlayStation.  As far as the Xbox goes, even in the US, Japanese titles sell far better on PlayStation or even Switch than they do Xbox, so Xbox isn't really a priority for them.
