How are you reading that they are suggesting it is software based raytracing on PS5?

They specifically listed hardware raytracing for Xbox Series but not for PS5. If it's not hardware, the only other type of raytracing is software. Of course it could just be a typo from them.

Now to bring it home, please tell the good people of this thread the difference between hardware and software ray tracing?

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Wishful thinking?

They are simply writing their summaries using each console makers marketing buzzwords.

Thank you. Good read (the relevant parts of the article). Series X RDNA superior. Can we please just stop the denial now?

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Thanks for that. Good info.

Both the PS5 and Series X rely on their CUs to achieve Ray Tracing. RDNA2 doesn’t have dedicated RT and Tensor cores like Nvidia’s RTX approach.

Both Sony and Microsoft uses their own RT tech. Just wait for the games its only a few weeks to go now. No more embargoes or word play :P

I don’t think Ubi has confirmed Valhalla details for SX yet. It very well could also be upscaled or dynamic. But maybe they have and I just missed it.

"In the time since first posting the blog, Ubisoft has revised the wording to make clear that the PS5 iteration of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla can indeed perform at 4K at 60 frames per second. In a follow-up message sent to us by a PR representative at the publisher, this notion was also made clear once again. “I can confirm that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla runs at 4K at 60 fps on PS5 (upscaled 4K),” we were told."
