For me RE3 was my favorite after RE1, but Code Veronica deserved to be numbered while RE4 to 6 shouldn't exist.

You keep your hands off of my RE4!!!

I don't have the jewels of power to alter timeline so don't worry =p

I don't agree with the guy RE3 was great. Code Veronica was also a good game though. Imo RE3 >> RE CV.

RE3 is better than Code Veronica, CV is sadly the weakest of the main line games and it shows in how horribly it has aged when you play it. It was style over substance meanwhile RE3 became the most replayable RE game until REmake and ironically REmake 3. CV has design flaws that are quite significant.

I'm with you. RE3 feels to me a much better quality game than CV. At least CV is better than RE0.

He's delusional. Take him to the infirmary.

Code Veronica is not terrible, but it began the garbage-tier anime trend that culminated with Chris punching boulders against Matrix character Wesker and whatever abomination RE Zero was.

I agree with you that they exagerated on the physical capabilities of the chars starting there. Before it was mildy exageration.

At least it was just Wesker at that point, and he had a virus in him.
Still not sure what excuse there was for Chris punching a boulder.

Wesker was already super human on RE1 and yes I accept that he had mutation. I was thinking more about Chris. Sure Leon being a supercop while rookie and similar sillyness happened on previous titles as well.

Did Chris do something over the top in CV? I can't recall.

Been over a decade since I played CV, but I do remember yours chars being a little superhuman (well wasn't on CV that Chris became a Hulky versus the 1st game).

I played through the entire series last year (except for RE3 Remake because it wasn't out yet). I also had heard previously that RE:CV was originally intended to be RE3, but that the contract with Sony had disrupted these plans. And, I definitely could tell that RE:CV(X for me) was much more of a continuation of the franchise than RE3 was (RE2's campaigns clearly point directly at CV, whereas nothing set up RE3). That's not to say that RE3 doesn't work in the overall story, but, rather that it just kind of inserts itself independently. Also, having Umbrella deploy both a Mr. X and a Nemesis to the same location always felt a little weird to me...I didn't even realize that they were distinct entities until a couple of years ago.

Despite years of familiarity with the series, I had actually never played through RE2* and RE3 myself until last year (both on the Gamecube). I definitely like RE:CVX's story more than RE3's. I found the twins to be slightly more interesting (even if the VA could certainly be grating) than RE's usual villains, and, while I didn't care for Steve, I did enjoy his and

Spoiler!

Wesker's destinations in the plot.

All of that said, I actually think RE3 was the most fun to play amongst all of the pre-RE4 REs. I know a lot of people complain about the dodge mechanic, and maybe it was just more refined on the GC, but I had a 80-90% success rate with it. I actually felt like RE3 hit the right balance between action horror and survival horror, between the dodge and the exploitable environmental hazards.

To the quoted: I did not see anything in RE:CVX that was even remotely close to the ridiculous boulder punching of RE5. Honestly, I can't think of any superhuman feats by any of the uninfected (action movie-esque but not superhuman). Also, while Chris's face is different, he wasn't "hulky" yet.

                     RE1                                     RE1 Remake                RE:CV

*Fun fact: my very first exposure to the RE series was a friend who was stuck on the last boss in RE2 on the PSX back in 1998(?) shoving his controller into my hands when I laughed at his repeated deaths. I then, I swear I'm not lying, beat the boss first try (I did take a few hits acclimating to the tank controls). My friend was...uh...we'll say fairly irritated. I then didn't play RE2 until last year.

It is quite possible that my memory of CV isn't perfect since it have been many years since I last played it =]

But the important part is that it seems that everyone on the thread at least liked CV.

Ha! No worries. I'm just lucky enough (with regards to this topic) to have played it relatively recently.

At the bolded: Yes. This is the much more important part. Now, if only it felt like Capcom liked it too :(
