5 minutes is nothing when the game will provide well over 100 hours of entertainment. I've played over 170 hours of CoD4, and thats just online, not including single player, or split screen.

who cares how long it takes too install, GTA4 would be worth an hour of installation.
If it was more than half and hour then I'd probably tease the PS3 version as well, but five minutes? Really? That's just silly.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Bet: If Kingdom Hearts 3 becomes a multiplaform title/is not Wii exclusive then I will be banished from this land for 1 week and sing my praises to those who have proved themselves to be more intelligent than I.http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/RDBRaptor/rdbraptor_sig16.jpg%5B/IMG%5D">

5 minutes to install is worth well more than that to not look at load screens, especially on multiplayer mode that will have lots of loading. also liked all the posts about what to do while your 360 is in for repairs. How about the top 5 games you can download off of psn with the $50 you have to send microsoft every year for xbox live
So the split screen multiplayer for PS3 only.... that is still just a rumor right?
But we do know that the PS3 version has better anti-aliasing.

six axis
But no achievements or DLC (whatever it may be)
Damn... this decision is really going to haunt me.
And if Microsoft had the standardized hardware to support a mandatory install, they would be glad for it.
| superchunk said: Well, I have to admit that the whole logic behind console games having install times really chaps my hide. No installing of anything is one of the major benefits to console gaming vs pc's. Granted if it were a mere minute or two, then no biggie. But, when you start to get to the 10min mark, you have really out done yourself. -1 for Sony in my view for the many games lately with installs. |
Either you tried to be coy or you really think 5 minutes is just like 10.
Sony did not add the install, RockStar did, and what a shitty way to treat a company you work so closely with.
if I was RockStar, I would be pissed. In fact, I would do one of two things, release why the install is better then not having it, or list all the things people can do with the two week turn around when you need to get your 360 fixed.
It's like MS said:
"Hey, mind making your game multi-plat so we can sell some consoles and make some money? Oh, and just so you know, once you do that, we are going to bash the version you make for the other console, sorry if that causes you to sell less copies, and make less money. Cool, thanks, bye."

What Montana said. Also, look at install bases. PS3 is 6 mil less than 360. If install times were so important, it should have blown PS3 out of the water. |
Your both right. After looking at the breakdown for the regions again for both games, DMC4 is a good example that most people don't care about the install times.
However, imo, they are still stupid and bring down an excellent benefit to a console over a pc game.

No, I meant what I said. a few minutes really isn't that big of a deal but when a game starts to take 10+ min that is really stupid. I am completely against any load times on consoles. One reason I liked N64 over PS1. Zero load. Unfortunately Nintendo f'ed themselves into losing to PS1, but, to me it was still a better console.
I would rather have the few seconds of break between levels/scenes than an install. But, that's just me. It kinda gives you an exhale time between the action.
MS is finally doing the smart thing and playing up its advantages (despite the manditory install being recommended for its version as well). It's their best bet and making this game "theirs" in America. If MS was really smart they would have rockstar make an exclusive spin-off Japanese/Yakuza GTA for the 360 to get some greater leverage in Japan.
Though with sub-Wii level graphics (models at the very least, I imagine the environments are beyond the Wii's capability in their scale) I wonder how 360/PS3 owners, now content with HD graphics as the standard, will respond to the game. I wonder how it will fair with reviewers? The bar is set high, I just hope people's expectations aren't that of anything that much greater than what San Andreas/Vice City/GTAIII was.
Will this be another franchise that falters as it stumbles into this generation? Will this be another lemming race like Halo3 where everyone rushes out to buy it the first week then sales drop off dead almost immediately as everyone second guesses their purchase? Who the hell honestly knows. I don't expect this game to be bad at all, but with something this big you know everyone is going to suspect the worst by default. With so much hype its only inevitable that even the best game can't live up to the PR standard created for it.
