More games appealing for the Japanese and a price cut will be enough to make PS3 start selling better in Japan, then, once reached critical mass, it'll rock. And let's not forget that the huge investments in HW power will pay, as they'll give it a greater longevity, while Nintendo will be forced to release an HD console one or two years before PS4 (but this won't really hurt them, as by then the necessary HW will be cheap), so that Sony will have time to close the gap in the current gen consoles. And perhaps, at the time of the second to next generation the competing consoles releases will be so scattered that a comparison won't make much sense.
