And that is the beauty and pain of these DF deep dives...

If they didn't do what they did, would anyone of us have even noticed it? Pause frame, zoom into a specific portion of the screen, zoom into RT section of that portion, zoom into zoomed into RT... LOOK!!!! its checkerboard RT!!

I actually like that they do that. It really show that the choice was effective. "The dev saved on computational resource by doing checekboardered RT on a 1/4 resolution on the map". The end result is almost imperceptible that they cheap out while at the same time using something that lessened the burden on the system. That is the beauty of consoles.

Don't get me wrong. I like that they do it too. But my issue with these things is that it just fuels fanboy wars and ends up derailing conversations from the actual games to things like, "look, on the XSX RT checkerboard is at a higher resolution" then all of a sudden things that were otherwise indistinguishable becomes an "I can't play it, it looks muddy and hurts my eyes".

When in truth, 99% of the people out there would never have known any of his if someone didn't go to those lengths to point it out to them.

Play has no limits... only on RT resolution xD

Well do you limit your play by 720p RT?

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

yea, the graphical difference of these consoles will probably be the smallest we ever had - DF and the like will still find a way to stay relevant and keep the discussion on "the gap" going
