Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

This number is obscenely high, and I don't really like the game, but congrats it will or have passed GTA V.

I remember when I first bought Minecraft. It was last year and then I immediately got a refund because the game version I got wasn't compatible with another of a friend. Good times.

Minecraft has sold way more units than GTAV. GTAV has sold over 120 million units.

So the MAU is above the sold of GTAV, massive.

How much for it to pass all sold variations of Tetris?

in ChinaMinecraft is now approaching 300 million registered accounts. The game in China is published by NetEase on PC/Mobile and is free to play.

Hard to say exactly how much Tetris has sold with how old it is and how many times it has been re-released. The mobile release by EA has sold 100 million units. With the limited known sales for Tetris we have the Series with 171 million units sold. https://www.vgchartz.com/game/226237/tetris/

Thanks, even on smartphones there shouldn't be that many games with more downloads than Minecraft sales.

4 free games have downloads over 500M

And no paid game is above Minecraft.

Minecraft school edition is/was free here for covid19. It's probably also the most re-bought game. I know I have the 360 version, ps4 version, iPad version, PC version :/ It helps it's often promoted and costs very little. I'm no longer among the active players though, got fed up with all the glitches and mod management nightmare.

Has to be one of the most successful buyouts of all time.

Minecraft is a juggernaut that is showing no signs of slowing down. Microsoft at this point must have turned the $2.5 billion acquisition into a nice profit.

Yep, at the moment they bought it seemed like it had already reached market saturation so it was a bet of merchandise sales or that the sequel would generate as much sales. But it really kept selling and may really have paid back.

Congrats to Minecraft. It just goes to show that what gamers really want are cutting edge graphics.
