Factor 5 is so full of crap it's funny.

I believe he is telling the truth, athough it may not be the truth that everyone expects ...

The Wii should be able to produce every effect that the PS3 and XBox 360 can, but it certainly can not produce as many effects at the same time; and it can't use these effects in as widespread of a fashion as you could on the PS3 or XBox 360. A way to look at this is if you took the same approach as the Resident Evil Remake on the Gamecube and made a Wii game, being that most of the processing power is really going towards rendering a couple of characters on screen these characters could look a lot like characters from PS3/XBox 360 games.

Now, in the hands of talented artists who choose to use these effects only when you receive maximum benefit from them (like the fur shaders on the Queen Bee in Super Mario Galaxy) you can get some very impressive visuals without requiring that much processing power.

its not about being hard on him, its more like everyone knows that talk is cheap when it comes to the video game industry, so it would be nice to see what he is talking about very soon. i mean come on, boasting that its gonna push limits with no evidence. i dont have anything against factor 5 though, i loved rouge squadren, it was a great game for the GC

Sounds great, but I must say keep your hopes down and don't talk it up too much--as Wii owners have always said, graphics aren't everything and we all remember how Lair turned out.

Every developer in the world is going to brag up their game as much as possible--obvious and normal.

At least they put a patch out to help with some of its problems.

My comment is less directed toward the Wii's technical capabilities as it is Factor 5's programming capabilities and PR blundering. How many times did we hear that Lair was maxing out the PS3 after all? This situation is starting to feel all too familiar to me.

Heck, most of the article is spent with Factor 5 trying to pawn off its most recent failure by blaming Nintendo.  I'm sorry, it's not Nintendo's fault that you didn't wait, jumped ship, and rushed a flawed game out the door on another console.

Wii doing PS360 graphics is like seeing someone from Weight Watchers program do a 4 minute mile.

Probably will never happen but it would be cool if it did...

Factor 5 is so full of failure.

Way to blame someone else for your sucky game.

Wii and PS3/360 shoudln't even be mentioned in the same sentence when it comes to technical ability , it's like a gramatical error .

Excuse me please...

Shut up F5!! You made me not want to buy a PS3!

I'm done.. Thank you!

So their Wii engine can do everything the PS3 engine does and even more? I'm so glad you told me that Eggebrecht :) I would never have believed it if unless you told it yourself.

/endsarcasm

If you ever played Lair you should know "their engine". It's pretty impressive at full 1080p, with in-house 7.1 sorround sound, in-house physics, crazy animation/AI (hundreds of soldiers and dragons fighting) all at a not so impressive 15-25 FPS (rofl)

I guess if they drop the hundreds of everything, the 1080p and the 7.1 surround they should be able to squeeze everything on Wii's 88Mb ram and 3Mb embedded GPU ram.

Factor 5 used to be a good company, hope they get their shit back together now they're moving on to the Wii.

Optimistic predictions for 2008 (Feb 5 2008): Wii = 20M, PS3 = 14M, X360 = 9.5M

I'm still guessing the new Factor5 game will either be a new Turrican title or a Wii version of Lair. They're comment that the engine does "everything the PS3 engine did and then some" sounds like they're simply modifying an engine used on a PS3 game, and the only one they have to choose from is Lair.

Factor5 is good at pushing graphical capabilities of a system, which is something the Wii needs. Someone to finally push it graphically. Factor5, however, does have a history with games not always having the best frame rates, though, which can be a side-effect of their graphical push.
