I'm questioning this. |
So... resorting to insults then?

Why are you avoiding the video? Watch the video already lol.

Because I don't feel like watching a twenty minute video that I already know won't address the question? I've seen plenty of videos of fighting games, and played plenty of them. Watching a video of one particular one is not going to define the entire genre. What point do you expect me to come away with?

Watching the first 20sec will be more than enough, because it's the first fighting game ever and with almost none of the traits you say a fighting game should have. So the point is, some fighting games have those traits as you say. The keyword here is some.

Ah, well you got me there. My mistake. |
Just don't want to come across as a hater, because I really love FFVII, it did a lot of great things. In this argument though I am just defending my point that OoT was the better game. I am being pretty open minded about this, I understand that some people only care about story, or perhaps value story greatly over other categories, and to them, I guess FFVII could be the greatest of all time (Xenogears also has an argument there).
Like I said, I loved them both, and I could Write essays about what made both so great. But I don't know that many people that got to play Ocarina back in 1998 would deny that it was the most ground breaking experience of their video gaming lives to that point. Perhaps only Mario 64 in 1996 has a better argument in that particular claim, but I am not sure.

If we're going to group games in a genre together, there has to be some common elements. If you disagree with the ones I suggested, then post what you think those elements are.
Edit: And as far as I can tell, this game does allow you to attack in real time, and gives you at least some ability to move your character.

I'm not denying that OoT have better gameplay, but this whole petty argument started because I said nobody has really seen FF7, and then it was about legos, and right now it's about fighting games because a certain someone went berserk.

You made a point and I questioned it. And now you're repeatedly insulting me. You're under no obligation to defend your point if you can't or don't want to. But this is flaming and is now actually against the rules of the forum.

Nah I give up, you win.

Your chain of questions came out as combative, so I responded perhaps to harshly, but I take it all back cause I just read what you posted in page 8. Going berserk isn't flaming tho.
